. Review: A Good Buy - This sounds great on the heavy vinyl. Nice packaging in gatefold sleeve with a beautiful glossy full color booklet and liner notes/essays throughout. Discs are in vinyl/rice paper anti-static sleeves. Though info was not included in the desertcart description, I can confirm by the dead wax imprint that this was mastered by Sterling Sound. It's from original analog tapes and pressed by Quality Record Pressings so expect excellent clarity and imaging. Buy with confidence, this is a quality re-issue and a fine value. Review: All along the watchtower, as good as ever, and I finally own it, YEA! - This is one of the most famous LPs in all recorded musical history, by Hendrix of course the man who created about every piece of experimental music back in the late 1960s and he was amazing at what he was doing considering that there were no trick pedals to assist him in completing the effect. He and Roy Buchanan were so far ahead of their time that they were flying in totally uncharted skies. Hendrix had managed to perform a great many times before ELECTRIC LADYLAND and prove what he was capable of but this was the crowning achievement of his abilities to that point, with tracks such as CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC, ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER, VOODOO CHILD, and many other stand-out tracks all of which originate from this truly brilliant LP a must-have for any really serious collection. I remember the first time I heard this LP it was back in the early part of 1968 and I was very confused by it as I had never heard any kind of music that had sounded like this before. My music-listening buddy wanted it off the Turntable as soon as possible his idea of being REALLY RADICAL was listening to CREAM's DISEALI GEARS but that was very mainstream compared to this. He just decided to walk away, I wanted to give it a chance and listen some more. There were some tracks that I liked very much so I wanted to listen to more. On things went and History was made. Hendrix was scheduled to come to Toronto for what was supposed to be a HUGE concert that following summer I managed to get tickets with another friend and then my father got a job in Alberta and we had to move, Hendrix's life also took a turn for the worst as he died before that show I believe and it became the show that never was.

Simply Outstanding
This is the release of Electric Ladyland that you want to get. I can confirm it's the Hendrix Legacy 2010 release that was remastered and pressed on 108 gram vinyl by Quality Record Pressings. It is a dead quiet record with outstanding sonics and clarity. If you know how ground breaking Jimi Hendrix was as a musician you owe yourself to get a copy of this release. It seems like a crap shoot these days with new records but this release is outstanding. If you like Jimi Hendrix, get it, if you don't know about him, get it anyway. You will not be disappointed, this man was a true musical genius of his generation.

An all-time favorite, remastered
I first bought Electric Ladyland in 1970, just before learning that Jimi Hendrix had died. This has always been among my favorite albums, and still is. I have bought it twice as LP (American, and the English nude cover), once as an 8-track tape, and three times on CD. I don't hear a huge difference between the last two CD remasters, as others have reported. I was interested in the video, and for determining whether I could hear a difference. Overall, my previous edition was good enough, and I did not need to buy this edition, but it's still a great album that could only be rated five stars. I have always been curious about the reversed and slowed-down voice at the beginning of "...And the Gods Made Love" opening track, so I used Adobe Audition to find out. Edit the sample, reverse it, and adjust the pitch and speed, and, remarkably, a previously unheard bit of Hendrix emerges. It's quite clearly Jimi's voice in some studio chatter, saying words like (as close as I can tell): "...stay there for a second? ... yeah, stuff like that... ok, one more time." (It isn't really the word "stuff", but if I used the word I heard, which starts with the same letter, Amazon would not let me post this.) I guess my favorite part of the album is the blues jam around "Voodoo Child", especially because it features other favorite musicians Steve Winwood and Jack Cassidy, among others. Overall, this is Jimi's album more than the Experience. I imagine him alone in the studio experimenting to get just the sound he wants. And later, with the band, saying after every take, "ok one more time" in an attempt to make it absolutely perfect.

One of the Proverbial "Required Texts" of 1960's Psychedelic Rock
I heard this album for the first time when I was 12- in 1989. Since then, there is not a time I have not had at least one copy of this album somewhere- from tape, to CD, mp3, and now coming full circle to vinyl. There are few artists who had such an outsized impact in their short careers as Jimi Hendrix and the album "Electric Ladyland" is a definitive example as to why. For those new to Jimi or anyone wanting an album that blow your mind from start to finish, this is a great place to start. The vinyl album packet arrived very quickly and sounds great in this (or any) format. The jacket is full of different pics/reference materials. Def recommend.
