Dumb question but how are you supposed to get the compound out of the tube?? Thank you

Do you strop on the platen or the slack of the belt?

We recommend stropping on a slack belt. This will help you manage the proper pressure needed for stropping and allow the belt to sweep across the edge and remove the burr without cutting the new edge. If you accidentally cut into the belt lightly does that make the belt unusable?

Depends how lightly you cut into it. Use it till it breaks. It’s not going to hurt you, probably stop almost immediately

the belt seems to be about an inch too short. how can I stretch it enough to fit?

Measure the belt. It should be 30 inches. If that is the proper size for your machine it should fit. If it doesn’t because it’s smaller than 30 inches, you need to have them replace it with the proper belt.
