but anything seemed better than talcum at that point
I hope I get enough space to say it all :-). The day I read that talcum had been shown related in studies to ovarian cancer, I threw out all my baby powder. I went to google for "alternatives to talcum". This was one among relatively many. I chose arrowroot over garbanzo bean powder, rice powder, cornstarch, etc, because it said it was herbal, as far as the originating plant goes. It was an under-educated guess, but anything seemed better than talcum at that point. But let me tell you, I have never looked back. I put this on my skin, and I love it. I'm going to try to say this delicately, and hope that persons who are a bit overweight will understand: since I am heavy, there are spots where skin meets skin on me, and by the end of the day, or even earlier, even WITH talcum, I can end up with heat-rash type skin eruptions, pain, moisture, and odor. With arrowroot powder, 2 or 3 days have passed with none of the above problems. And I mean 2 or 3 days between applications. Since buying and using and becoming permanently loyal to this wonderful stuff, I have read that rice, garbanzos, cornstarch, etc are all effective powders, but they contain starches, which feed bacteria, which is why skin eruptions, heat, pain, moisture, and odor can still occur when using them; bacteria that dwell in warm spots feed on the starch (glucose). After this smashing success finding an alternative to an unhealthy thing that I thought was gentle and good (we put it on BABIES for chrissakes...), I am moving on to making my own deodorant. Believe me, if anyone had told me that I would be giving up anti-perspirant in this lifetime, I would have laughed out loud. Now, I'm reading links between commercial deodorants/antiperspirants and breast cancer, and I think those findings would have made some kind of sense even before my arrowroot experience. But now, having learned firsthand something I would not have guessed prior to trying it, these links between illness and synthetic chemicals seem like a massive DUH. Using a natural product and getting BETTER results was not what I expected. My goal was to find a product which was necessarily inferior, but natural; something I could live with as I gave up the reliable results of my conventional products. I now believe I'm onto many natural things, "alternative" solutions, that I might just LIVE with :-), and live better than I would had I remained loyal to stuff that is dangerous to my biological parts :-).

Great Quality Product, Has Many Different Uses
I use this to make cosmetics and deodorant. I really like the fact that I'm putting food-grade organic product on my skin instead of mysterious man-made ingredients. This is a very fine powder, and is excellent as an ingredient in face powders; it doesn't clump or accentuate pores or fine lines (I use it mixed with beet root powder and cocao powder--proportions adjusted to match my skin tone). It's also great for making homemade deodorant (mixed with coconut oil, baking soda and tea tree oil). The 1 lb bag should last awhile, but when I need more, I won't hesitate to purchase this particular arrowroot powder again.

Never apply arrowroot powder directly into a pan while cooking to avoid clumps.
Arrowroot Tapioca Powder is easy to prepare into a thickener. Mix the powder with some water of room temperature until it is completely dissolved. Pour the mixture into a pan of cooked food which is ready to be served. The degree of the thickening of the powder is up to the preference of the user. Never put the powder directly into a pan while cooking; otherwise the powder will end in clumps, sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Use to thicken gravies, sauces etc
I read that arrowroot can thicken like flour but has more nutrients, so I decided to try it. I add just a little at a time, stir well and wait when food cools , it thickens.

Beautiful white, fine organic Arrowroot powder - highly recommend if you are looking for quality and quantity
First time we have ever purchased arrowroot, but it was recommended for use as a thickener by our physician in place of flour. This is a pure white, very fine certified organic product that has worked great in the dishes we have tried so far. I am not sure what the shelf life is, but we have kept in air tight containers in a dark, cool area. May try to place a little in the freezer if we still have some in a month or so just to make sure it remains good, as one pound is more than one would think when it comes to a fine powdery spice. We highly recommend this spice and the vendor we purchased it from, as so far, everything has been wonderful.

Great for diy lotion!
I bought this in 2018 and just ran out because I really only used it sparingly. Now that I've been more natural, healthy foods again, I wanted to buy again. I have bought other products from this company and have been happy about it. I have recently found out you can put arrowroot powder in your diy lotion to make it not so sticky and it has helped with that since I use a lot of oil base in my lotion. I have also used it for thickening sauces and even powder for my undereye and face to keep it from getting too oily. There are so many used for arrowroot and am glad it's at a good price for a pound! I'm hoping the quality stays the same since 2018.

LOVE it.
I've never used it for its intended purpose. I use this for body powder. I used to use cornstarch but cornstarch can support the growth of yeast bacteria, arrowroot does not and it's smoother and more silky against the skin. This is my go-to for mixing natural fragrances or essential oils to create a perfect body powder. On a sweltering 98F in the shade, humid afternoon, step out of the shower, powder up with this, you will feel like soft, cool, dry princess. Unless that doesn't appeal to you, then you'll just feel cool and refreshed. I actually use it in winter too. So, you know, it can make you feel soft and snuggly too. As far as how this works in gourmet food situations, you're just gonna have to find another review. Until I start using it in food preparation. Which I may actually start doing soon, since it's so good using it this way. Oh, I did once use this as a cornstarch substitution when trying to make non-dairy chocolate pudding. It worked just fine but I have nothing to compare it to, so maybe a moot point.
