A Love Song Collection

If there is any musician out there who can sing about love, in the most wonderful lyrics, you have ever heard of, it's Kenny Rogers. There is something about the way he sings, maybe it's his unique voice, I don't know, but something different, in his own way. Many of his best songs, including "Lady" are on this Cd. An not a big fun of Country music, but with Kenny Rogers, it's another stroy. I own many of his albums on Cd, and this one is no exception. Beautiful Music, from this guy with a beard. Also if you love Kenny Rogers music, you will love his "What About Me" Album. Listening to that one will make you cry. Every song is Amazing. Go on, and get your hands on his music, I promise you will not regret it! As Always, 5 Stars for Kenny Rogers; it's the Oldies!

I must admit that I'm not really that big of a fan of Kenny Rogers. The truth is that I grew up with many of his recordings playing on the radio and among my family, so they've stuck with me. The only other Kenny Rogers release in my collection is the 21 Number Ones release from 2006. While that release featured very good 24-bit remastering by Dave McEowen, the mastering on this 2008 release is even better yet! The difference is, of course, the mastering engineers. According to the liner notes, this release was 96k/24-bit mastered from the original flat master tapes by Robert Vosgien @ Capitol Mastering Studios - Hollywood, CA. Robert has done amazing work time after time in the past, and this is no exception! The audio resolution is impeccable! Classic ballads such as "She Believes In Me", "Lady", "Islands In The Stream", and "Through The Years" have been given a dimension unheard of in previous masters. Most fans will remember these recordings as sounding rather flat and dull on their original CD releases. That's how most people have always listened to these recordings, so many people probably have no idea that these recordings can actually sound incredible. Older masters left these songs sounding like they were always playing in the background, so you can imagine my surprise when Robert was able to pull this much fidelity out of the tapes. The drums are punchy, not flat; the instruments are clean, not muddy; and the vocals are clear, not buried. You know something special has been done when you hear a bass line coming from "Through The Years", a recording which I thought had suffered a fate of poor production or poor source tapes. I was wrong! For a 1981 recording, it is one of the best-sounding hits for that time. So is this collection really worth owning? I'm sure many fans are cringing at the sight of another Kenny Rogers collection on the market. How many more times can you get these songs? Even I rolled my eyes when I saw this release along with the latest Ricky Nelson Greatest Love Songs compilation hit the stores in early 2008. Fortunately, Capitol offered an incentive for these collections by giving fans a fresh new 24-bit remaster by an alternate mastering engineer for '08 instead of using previous remasters. If you care enough about sound quality, then I can't recommend this release enough!

Kenny Rogers 'A Love Song Collection' CD is just what the doctor ordered. When driving in my car, I enjoy listening to Kenny's smooth and melodious voice. I recently saw an ad for this CD and found it contained many of my favorites. Well, not only did it contain my favorites, there are some songs I had not heard before. I will be enjoying this CD for many years and more than likely purchase other albums by him. To me, he was one of a kind. Oh, and did I mention.. Islands in the Stream sung with Kenny and Dolly Parton is included on this CD. Great buy!

I first heard the complete album at my water exercise class, and most of us elderly people found the rhythms easy to exercise to. Most of us are also widowed, and don't have much romance in our lives, but hearing Kenny Rogers' soothing voice, brought back many memories of our past romances.

Love Kenny and love this CD in particular, so many wonderful love songs. I like this time period in his life, his voice was smooth captivating.

Kenny Rogers is #1 to me and always has been. He cannot kill a song. No matter what he sings he has that certain sound no else can copy. He feels his songs with his heart and thats what matters. A gifted man with a song.

Kenny Rogers when his voice was still deep and mellow. We still love him but his voice is not what it once was, although his personality is marvellous as was proved at Glastonbury this summer! This is a great album...so romantic.

I have always enjoyed the ballads by Kenny Rogers. They are well written - it's like telling a story in a song. Unlike other songs by some other artists, it's not just about having the words in a song to rhyme. For the songs by Kenny, they not only rhyme but they tell a story as well - that's what I call a true work of art.
