Insteon Hub is an Insteon central controller for the rest of us; a simple and straightforward device that connects you to your home from any smartphone, tablet, Alexa-enabled device or Google Assistant-enabled device. Control Insteon light bulbs, wall switches, outlets, and thermostats at home or remotely and receive instant email or push notification alerts from motion, door and window, water leak, and smoke sensors while you’re away. Just start with the Hub, select the Insteon devices for your home and enjoy.

Totally unreliable. OnlybBuy if you want to be switching it out every year.
When we move into our home, we changed everything to use insteon because several things, they have good ideas and building a bunch of affordable devices and their headquarter is local to me. I've visited them and talk to one of their engineers about the future of the products as I'm an engineer myself. Quickly however, I discovered that there is a flaw in their devices. Things start to fail within a year, and subsequently I need to replace switches, etc within the 2-3 years that I have them. Initially, they are pretty amiable in terms of replacing the product. Soon, I discovered the front office/customer service in the factory store pretty much tells me to go to hell, in one conversation, they are saying, nothing last forever, you can't get things for free in this life. Well definitely I agree, nothing is free, while instead is cheaper than other home automation in the market, it's still pretty pricey and I also agree that nothing last forever but I'm hoping my light switch last more than 1 or 2 years because I have more than 30 light switches and sockets, and if I need to change several switches every other month, i'd rather go to other vendors who stands behind their products and is willing to respect that there's manufacturing defects. I mean I use my light switch just like a decent human would, press on and press off, heck i barely even touch them anymore with alexa. I do not put them in extreme situation or whatsoever, if it fails, it is NOT doing what it is supposed to.Enough of the rant about their other devices, the same with the the insteon central controller hub. It is just sitting there all pretty, taking in commands from what's left of my insteon switches and boom, suddenly my alexa said, can't contact insteon hub. I checked, surely enough, the front led light went dark, it's dead! After ~1 year of use. Since I do not ever want to visit their factory store again so this is the last straw. Adios Insteon!

Very disappointing.
I should have read the reviews more closely. I usually do but when I got an Alexa to get my Spotify client off my MacPro and learned that it supported my Insteon lighting I jumped without looking.Let me preface the review by noting that I've been an Insteon product user since the company's first releases. In fact, my house was all X10 protocol for years before Insteon became available and I replaced all those X10 devices with Insteon. For years I've been running my Insteon devices on my Mac Pro via the Indigo 6 software and an Insteon PowerLinc 2413U controller. I initially did run into issues with noisy lines (I have several computers here) and signals not bridging across the power legs but I added two pairs of repeaters to installation and those problems went away.I received the Hub last week and was initially stoked that it was so small and easy to install. It also managed to pair up with the internet and my phone without incident. I was a happy guy. My thrill was short-lived when it failed to recognize the first device I tried to install which was running fine under Indigo. Then the second. The third was successful. Then more misses. After trying to install 23 currently-working Insteon devices in my house the Hub managed to link to only 13 of them. I repeated the attempts over and over again. No luck.So I called the Hub tech support number (without a doubt the noisiest and most obnoxious "hold" music I've ever experienced) and spoke with a drone who blindly walked me through a knowledge base tree, asking me several times to restate my problem, asking whether I'd tried doing something we'd already just done. Attention Span: zero. Example: "Okay, you should uninstall and reinstall the phone app. That should fix it." "Dood, you just had me do that five minutes ago and the only thing that happened was that I lost 45 minutes of work adding those devices!" The call ended with the drone saying that he had nothing else to try and promising me that a senior engineer would call me the next day, which unsurprisingly did not happen.Stay away from this product. Maybe it will work for a tiny apartment using simple lamp modules but it's definitely not capable of managing a larger and more diverse Insteon installation like I have here.In addition, I received an email last week from Insteon announcing updates to this product and was told to expect them to be installed automatically between May 2 and May 5. I was hoping this might fix at least some of the issues with this device. However, here is it May 7 and no updates were received.Six months later: I did another Hub update. It still fails to recognize half of my Insteon installation even though Indigo has no problems with it. Hopefully a competitor will see the potential market here because this company has clearly has no interest in fixing its broken product.

Home Automation for the long term
The Insteon home automation system is the very best way to go. I have been using it since Insteon replaced X-10 40 years ago. In four homes. Sure its not cheap, but if the hardware and software last a lifetime it is worth it. I just purchased a hub, two wall switches, and two motion transmitters for my new home. With very little effort, both dark places are lit automatically. My next automation will be to have Alexa handle some lights.

Avoid Insteon
This is my third one in 5 years. They keep breaking. This is not a good product. But unfortunately I have a bunch of devices that require the hub. I will be replacing all the devices with non-Insteon products soon to get away from this horrible product. The process to transfer to a new hub is ridiculous. You have to enter everything from scratch. Schedules, scenes, devices, everything! Took me over an hour to get everything mostly the same. Had to figure out all the light levels for scenes again. Stupid, stupid setup. Avoid this brand if you aren’t already stuck with it.

Poor support and does not support all devices
Insteon is a dead company.DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT AS IT IS 100% CLOUD BASED AND NON FUNCTIONAL!Bought as a replacement to the previous version that failed on me.You'd think that there would be a Integration for the Insteon devices to the new Insteon hub. I would presume that there would have been an improvement between the original Hub and this newer one.Improvement- Nope. As far is it looks inside, they just removed the Led weights out of the original and shrunk the oversized plastic case.Compatibility- Nope, we'll not without multiple apps that don't work together.Apparently it's only some devices. The I/O Linc I use on my garage door that worked fantastically on the original Hub does NOT integrate well and I can't seem to get it working properly.Support from Insteon did not resolve the issue either.Going to migrate all my stuff away from this dying company to Zwave I believe and integrate with Home Assistant

Insteon has shut down.
Insteon has shut down their hub servers, meaning it is no longer easily controllable via their apps.If you recently purchased a Hub, return it as this isn’t worth it.Insteon gave no warning to it’s customers and has taken down all support forums and documentation.

Good System, 4 Stars.
Good system, i run 2 cameras for production plant. Reasonable picture when lights are on, quite hazy with no additional lighting. This is a very difficult system to setup and requires a call to INSTEON Techs to hook up. Software is not so bad but It will not work as it should on my system anyway. I use it on a PC on location, and Apple iPad and iPhone when away.
