As Good a Tool as I presently Need -- At a very good price for "Real Fur" (Red Sable, fer SHURE!!!).
I ordered this set on Aug. 26th, '14. It is now Oct. 24th. So my experience is less than two months, but for what it's worth...Excellent value -- well made and handle well. Sensitivity to the paint load is still "Tricky" (I am painting exclusively in oils). However, after 2-4 'Use, Clean & reset the point shape, Air dry, then re-use...' cycles; I find the brushes & I ARE working better together now. I am able to get what I need out of these tools. THAT is the object of the exercise. ALSO, I am using good quality paint but NOT 'Top of the Line' Professional Grade paints. I simply have not needed this level of paint for my present "Stuff"BOTTOM LINE: I bought the set. I am very happy with the brushes as a whole. And, 'YES!' -- I would buy again: This product AND 'YES!!' from THIS SELLER> I intend to seek out this seller and use them in the future.THEREFORE: I Rate "*****" -- and happily now return to "Smearing Mud on Rags". Busy now, gotta Go!Good Luck, All. -- 'Bye! (&... "BUY These!").

Bargain Quality for Beginners
These brushes are great for watercolor and are super soft and hold a lot of pigment and water. They are great natural hair brushes for a beginner watercolorist (like me) that is unsure or not ready to invest in the more expensive higher quality hand tied natural hair brushes. However, my analysis of these brushes is not based on my amateur beginner assessment but rather that of my professor who was impressed with their quality and softness for the overall price. The only thing that is a possible drawback for watercolor is how long the handles are as they are long and more suitable for acrylic or oil painting. I am debating cutting mine but will wait to see how the finish holds up on these. I had some shedding in the very beginning upon washing the brushes but not have not had any issues since.

Great brushes
I haven't had much opportunity to use these brushes so I'm not the best person to leave a comment. I'm also not a real artist but I make attempts at it. This set of brushes are nice quality and I can see that experienced artists would like them. When I first got them I was somewhat disappointed. They were very stiff even after the first time I rinsed them. I rinsed them out again and they were perfect. They hold a lot paint and does not lose bristles as you paint. As a non-artist I like these brushes and look forward to using them a lot in the future.

Would buy again
I was a bit nervous to buy watercolor brushes online. But I am glad that I did. These arrived on time and with no damage. The brushes are longer than I expected, but I actually like them more that way. The tips were perfectly intact, and appear to be of solid design. If youre familiar with water color brushes, you know that the cheap brushes have bristles falling out and ruining your paintings. This is not the case. Very nice brushes, nice variety in size. I am very pleased with the quality and the price. Would recommend. I do suggest when you rinse your brushes to dry them, mold the tips back into shape while still wet. You want the nice pointy end for watercolors, and if it drys out of place- it wont go back. This is essential with all brushes. Have fun! Would recommend.

Don't buy. Not even as a starter set for a beginner.
These are no better than the Crayola 8-pack brushes with hair (not the plastic bristless, they're crap). These are just bigger. I don't suggest these even as a learner/beginner set. Your results will be so much better if you buy one reasonably good brush instead.Specifically:1. They don't hold an acceptable point during painting. I've enclosed a picture of the points of the #8 and #10; all have done the same thing as soon as the glue (for shipping) has been washed out.2. Exactly half of the ferrules, despite appearing to be double crimped, are loose, so the brush tip wobbles as I paint. The # 6 and #8 actually make noise they're so loose. The #2 is also loose enough to be unpleasant to paint with.3. They don't hold a good load of paint, essential for good washes.4. The ad states that they are "red sable mix," but they don't act like it. Maybe a small percentage, but there is nothing on the packaging to suggest that claim is true. Regardless, these brushes do not behave like they have red sable.5. The sizes are wonky. The second photo shows a good brush, size 5, between their 4 and 6. The Cotman, by the way, is one I use a LOT, but note the beautiful point it has, even when dry.I was hoping these would be an economical alternative, but they were a waste of money. I will just go to reputable dealers and get good brushes with guarantees from now on.I almost gave it two stars because I think they are about what one should expect from a budget set, in which the entire set cost less than one good brush. But honestly, I have done most of my painting over the years with one or two good brushes. A good brush lasts for years, and if the tip comes to a good point, you don't need a wide range of sizes. Get a good one or two, and be done with it.

Four Stars
This brush may be fine for watercolors, as they hold water but that is all I can boast about this top quality product--NOT! I did not find them useful since they seem to lack the control my acryllic painting requires. I probably would have returned them had I opened the box within the return parameters. Shipping was on time.

High quality and Excellent Price
I can't believe how many packets of brushes I paid for at Michaels that cost more than this set and shed bristle hairs worse than a cat after a long winter. I appreciate the value and high high quality. I am a beginner but I don't feel like one with these beautiful tools. I don't know all the technical things to say about how they work. All I know is my water paintings have improved and I always look forward to using them. Also not one loose hair.

The brushes are great! They arrived earlier than the expected arrival date (which was amazing, since I had 2 day shipping - they came the next day). The brush tips were coated in a water soluble glue which kept them from being deshaped during shipping. I just put them in some cool water to wash it away. The brushes are built well, there is almost no hair lost from the brushes during use, and the handles feel sturdy and have a nice weight to them. The handles are also long enough that you can change your grip however you like. Great product!
