Matala Rebuild Kit for MPC-60 1/4 HP Rocking Piston Compressor- Aerator Parts

Exact parts to rebuild an expensive pump, and very easy to do! Saved me a lot of money for a new one!

Evidently, Air Pumps Repair Parts Pond Supplies is out of business. Ordinarily, as this rebuild kit is produced by the compressor manufacturer (Matala), you should expect a first class kit. I have discovered recently however, that the aftermarket kit produced by Mack Industrial (with the black piston cup) is supposed to provide superior wear and longevity. In any case, I bought this kit thru Amazon from Air Pumps Repair Parts Pond Supplies 8 months ago, anticipating a further rebuild at the 2-year mark. When the piston cup of your pump begins to fail, the pump will get louder, owning to sudden piston freeplay. That's your signal. So, I opened my package to find that the piston cup was what to the eye might have been "slightly malformed," but to measurement was well outside of reasonable tolerances. The center hole was mis-shapened, and approximately 0.090 out of center — thus causing the sealing edge on one side to be intolerably scant. Immediately discovering that the pump could not be safely run with this breach of tolerances, I began calling the vendor about 3 weeks ago. I also spent quite a bit of time getting good pictures and measurements which I emailed to the supplier. No responses whatsoever, in some 3 weeks. A couple of days ago, calling their number began to raise a message that "Your call cannot be completed as dialed." We all know what that means. I am uncertain whether these people would have replaced my faulty piston cup if they had been able to do so. But if you need one of these kits, I would suggest you look instead to Mack Industrial.

This is for 1/4 horse air pump for pond bottom aireation

The rebuild kit fixed my pond pump. The instructions included helped make the repairs easy to do. It came as a set of 2 so I have a spare for later maintenance.

Rebuild kit was as expected.
