A Fun and Educational Butterfly Experience
These live caterpillars arrived healthy, active, and well-packaged. The included food lasted through the growing stage, and the instructions were simple to follow. Watching the caterpillars transform into beautiful Painted Lady butterflies was fascinating and made for a wonderful hands-on learning experience.

Excellent product and service.
I bought 4 containers for my students. Each container was advertised as including 5 caterpillars, but when I received them, they each had 7 caterpillars. All 28 caterpillars became chrysalis and they attached to the top of the container. Six chrysalis fell, but l was able to reattach them with small pieces of scotch tape. Having these caterpillars has been a tremendous experience for my students. They were able to follow each stage in the metamorphosis process, but they were also able to witness specific moments, such as when the chrysalis start to shake signaling they are about to hatch or when they butterflies are just born and their wings are still rolled. So far we released 24 butterflies.

Release the butterflies!
Received 2 cups with 7 caterpillars in each. Company says 5 from each cup should survive, which was accurate. I think, had the cups not have been so small, they may have fared better. I have ordered before and the cups were much larger, allowing room for the caterpillars to move about. When they attached their crystallids to the top, they were very crowded and 2 chose to make crystallids on the floor. (They did not survive.) Because of the crowding at the top, one emerged but has a crippled wing, so I was unable to release it and will live in captivity. Overall worth purchasing, but the company needs to use larger cups to allow for stronger caterpillars.

These turned out so great! We ordered 10 caterpillars and received 14! All are alive and well and have made it to the chrysalis phase! Thank you!!!!

My second batch this year!
These pictures are from the second batch of Painted Lady butterflies I purchased this year. Both sets contained a 6 or 7 caterpillars per container, and every crysalis, cocoon, produced a butterfly that emerged and was set free. I purchased a third set, and they are progressing well. I started doing this during COVID, and it was so meaningful. I sent my grandchildren kits so that they could enjoy watching life continue during challenging times. Each grandchild had these kits growing in their classrooms when COVID closed schools, and this allowed them to see from beginning to end, the process of caterpillars transforming into beautiful butterflies. I do this for myself, now. The grandchildren have grown and are busy, and I have the opportunity to watch these magical beings come to life and it is such a thrill to release them. I encourage everyone to give this a try. It’s a magical experience, you won’t regret! They are easy to do. I had a habitat for them from another vendor and continue using it. It takes a couple of weeks, and voila! You do need to feed them after they emerge, and instructions are included in each order. Give this a try! Kids or no kids, it’s a wonderful experience.

Traumatizing! Only half made it :(
I’ve been getting caterpillar kits for years, and always had great success and fun. This is the first time purchasing from this company, and will be the last time. First, the caterpillars came almost fully grown. They were ready to switch over within a few days. Second, not all of the chrysalis formed on the top (lid), most of them had fallen off and were at the bottom of the cup. I had read that it’s okay if this happens, and to just make sure you place the chrysalis close to the net( so they have something to grab on to when they emerge ). This sadly Wasn't the case. Third-usually the chrysalis form on the lid, which makes it easy to transfer and place in the little slot. These cups came with mesh topping on the bottom of the lid, which came apart once you opened the cup : Luckily I was able to clip the two together with a binder paper clip; not a big deal, but unnecessary. Fourth- only the ones that were hanging on the cup lid, made it. Probably about 5 out of 12 made it. Fifth-We did get to watch some of the butterflies emerge from the chrysalis, which was a new thing for me: pretty awesome , right? That’s when the trouble began. The poor butterflies only made it half way out of their chrysalis. It was torture trying to watch this happen: so sad! We tried helping them out by placing them on the net; this only helped some. The butterflies would exhaust themselves and unfortunately didn’t fully make it out of their chrysalis. Now , explaining this to 2-3 year olds with special needs, was really difficult. 🥹🥹 this has never happened to me before! I do NOT recommend this company, and will NOT be purchasing from them again.
