Does it really weigh 18+ lbs?why?

probably more like 1.8 lbs, it is not heavy.

My 50 year old Sears tree pruner handle on the end broke. Will this fit the tapered metal connector between the 3 wood sections?

Thank you for choosing Rubbermaid Commercial Products. Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality and service. The bottom of the Rubbermaid Commercial Sanded Wood Handle with TapeRed Tip, 60-Inch Length, Natural is 1 1/8".

Would it work as a pitchfork handle?

I believe pitchforks had/have thicker handles...this handle is not real thick. Works great for a broom, but a pitchfork usually gets handled rougher than a broom. I think you'd be better off finding a thicker handle that can withstand the tougher use of a pitchfork.

what is the thread size?

Thank you for choosing Rubbermaid Commercial. Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality and service. The Rubbermaid Commercial Sanded Wood Handle with Tape Red Tip, 60-Inch Length, Natural (FG636200NAT) is not a threaded broom handle. The end of the broom tappers slightly . The diameter of the broom handle is 1-1/8"
