Sigma 213965 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art for Sony E Mount, Black

I picked up this 14 mm f/2.8 lens specifically for real-estate work, and while it delivers on my core needs, there are a few trade-offs to consider: 1. Optics & Aperture Sharpness at small apertures: I shoot real estate at f/8–f/11 to maximize depth of field, and the lens is rock-solid in this range. f/2.8 headroom (overkill?): I rarely, if ever, open past f/8—so the extra low-light capability is largely unused. It’s impressive, but not essential for typical property shoots. 2. Ultra-Wide Utility Tight spaces: The 14 mm field of view is invaluable when framing narrow bathrooms or compact kitchens. Distortion control: Like most ultra-wides, you’ll need to correct barrel distortion in post. This lens is better behaved than many others at 14 mm, but still benefits from a quick profile-correction. 3. Build & Handling Robust construction: Feels solid on a tripod, and the focus ring is smooth. Size & weight: It’s a bit larger than mid-range zooms, but balances well on a full-frame body. 4. Filter Compatibility Dome-front design: The bulbous front element prevents screw-on filters. Rear-slot filters only: You must invest in drop-in filters—more costly and less convenient than traditional screw-ins. 5. Value & Alternatives Consider your needs: If you never need f/2.8, a smaller or slower ultra-wide (e.g., 14 mm f/4 or 16 mm f/4) could save hundreds without sacrificing image quality at working apertures. Long-term investment: That said, if you anticipate low-light or astrophotography in the future, the extra speed and optical quality will pay off. Bottom Line This lens absolutely nails ultra-wide framing for real-estate interiors—but its f/2.8 speed and dome-front element add cost and complexity that many property shooters won’t fully utilize. If you prioritize maximum field of view and plan to correct distortion in-post, it’s a solid choice—just be prepared to spring for specialty filters or opt for a more budget-friendly alternative if you don’t need the extra aperture headroom.

Though it is a good cosatal and seascape lens, you WILL need the back filters for any effects. I am waiting for clear skies to put it up with astro photography. Hopefully my Haider set will arrive on time. I cannot use my Kase Armour filter kit with it as there are no front thread. But overal, I am satisfy.

This lens is super wide. Arrived on time and was undamaged. I'm using it on an A7Riii and I've had no issues. Auto to manual focus button is solid and easy to operate without looking. I love it!

I have been super excited to get this lens after reading tons of reviews and watching videos about it. Sadly, when I received it, even though the packaging was fine, it had a loose part inside that you could hear rattling around when you moved the lens around. The autofocus didn't work at all. Completely DOA. It had a very low serial number so not sure if it was just a dud or if the earlier lens were junk. I'm returning it and will hopefully get a good one. If not, I'll go back to the Sony brand.

Yes, was using the 16-35mm F/2.8 Sony G - Master for years now and wanted to try to get a lens that will help with those tight shots. 99% of my jobs are for Commercial Real Estate but occasionally I do shoot a residential home. Great for those tight Bathroom shots, I feel that it just as sharp as my Sony 16-35 while doing this type of work. I did have my 2nd use it for a wedding to get those wide space shots of the seating area and wedding ceremony. They looked very nice and sharp. I used this on a Sony A1, the focus seem very responsive, if you use this for landscape then there are 3rd party filter holders out there. The lens does have an inter spot to put some filters between the lens and sensor. I did purchase a set of them but haven't had time to use them.

I have continued to use this lens for work (real-estate photographer) on almost a daily basis since its release date. It has served me well for the price, I believe the Sony option to this lens is definitely sharper though especially around the edges which is a weak point to this lens. It shines at f5.6 for me personally, I've experience some unexpected softness at F8&F9 for some reason (maybe just my copy of the lens) and it doesn't do well at all with direct sunlight or even indirect sunlight and flaring can be pretty bad (harsh purple flares) but most issues can be corrected in post with ease and like I said its still being used daily for me and gets the job done on my Sony A7iii.

This is the best wide-angle lens I've ever used. I use it for real estate photography, and it is by far the best I've used. If I make sure it's level for photos, there is very little distortion, and I don't even have to fix the vertical lines in PS. It's big and heavy, and completely worth it.

I bought this for a corporate job I had. Inside a plant and this lens worked great. The wide angle and tact sharp focus was Awesome

Faster and sharper lens

I bought this lens for some landscape work from the air and I was veryimpressed with the results. It was used with my Sony A7R V and together a real power house combination.

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem weitwinkel-Zoomobjektiv für Urban- und Landschaftsfotografie für meine A7R4. Anfangs tendierte ich zum Sony-Pendant (G-Master 12-24). Die vielen positiven Testberichte über das SIGMA 14-24 liessen mich jedoch hellhörig werden. Gleiche Qualität zum halben Preis werden einem hier versprochen! Was soll ich viel um den heissen Brei herum schreiben: Alle Bilder Bilder die ich bis jetzt mit dem SIGMA geschossen habe über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Ich besitze auch noch ein G-Master f2.8/24-70 und kann (zumindest was die Brennweite von 24mm betrifft), den direkten Vergleich zum SIGMA machen. Das SIGMA ist einfach top. Verzerrungen gibt es nur sehr wenige (und die lassen sich mit der implementierten Korrektur in Lightroom einfach ausgleichen) und chromatische Aberrationen sind so gut wie nicht vorhanden (was man bei meinem G-Master nicht behaupten kann). Die Bilder sind schon ab Blende 2.8 knackscharf bis zum Bildrand. Hier hat SIGMA wirklich nicht zuviel versprochen bei der Behauptung, das Objektiv sei für Kameras ab 50 MP aufwärts entwickelt worden. Fazit: Zur Zeit habe ich fast nur noch das SIGMA auf meiner SONY. Abschliessend noch etwas zur Verarbeitungsqualität: Robuste wetterfeste und staubdichte Metallkonstruktion mit einer Bombenhaptik welche dem G-Master in Nichts nachsteht. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
