Q: Has anyone tried this with a 1" strap? It says it's good for up to 2" but I'm wondering if it is too loose if used with a 1" strap.

I am using it with a 1 inch strap and it is a little loose, but I am still using it as it does take some pressure off my shoulder.

Q: Has anyone worn it on a hot summer day? Does it breathe or do you end up sweaty under the pad area?

We used ours in Africa for a month. When used directly on the skin, it can get a little sweaty. When using the strap over a shirt, I didn't notice any discomfort. The benefit of a better load distribution was well worth it.

Q: Does it have hooks to attach to a bag? I don't see any pictured.

It has very secure Velcro. You just wrap it around your bag strap and fasten the Velcro.

Q: how wide is it on outside?

From the spec: “ Fits straps up to 2" wide and measures 12.5 x 2.75" Looks to me to be 2.75” wide.
