It really is compact. I was able to get a needle and fix my button and return everything back to its original place. It is definitely going on my next trip with me.

Nicely designed and sturdy case good quality goods

This is a great sew kit for emergencies, travel or trail. It has 12 colors of thread, tape measure it 25 inches or 65 cm. the scissor are toys. Plenty of needles, 2 threaders (Handy it your eyes aren't what they used to be]. Case is nice, zipper opening to keep everything together. It is light weight, takes little room. Now if you are looking for a kit with military color this is not it, there is black, brown and navy, the rest are bight reds, greens etc. 5 stars are because for the money it is a good kit. It is for repair not dress making. If you are looking for a kit to repair your pack or cameo you may want to look THE RATHCO kit. It too has a scissor all metal and is about as useful as the one in this kit but has 3 colors all useful for mil colored stuff. I have both, for under $5 if I remember right. This kit is well worth the money, if you get it remember what it cost... goes for both. The Rathco kit you will probably want to add to, such as a needle threader, but the Singer kit has 2. So don't expect you Mom's Singer Sew machine for this price just a good all round handy kit for emergency repair. The only reason I got the Rathco kit is for the colors of the thread and it appears to be nylon instead of cotton as in the Singer Kit. Hope this was useful.

I waffled between giving this 3 stars or 2. It's insanely over-priced at the original $25 level, and not much better at $15. I wanted a small sewing kit for my apartment. This is more appropriate for taking travelling for 1-off repairs. The amount of thread on each spool is laughable; it would not be enough to hem a single pair of pants. And, since the case is so small, replacing an original spool with even a small regular spool of new thread would prevent the case from closing. Over time, as the original thread is depleted, the case will only be holding the tiny little tools. Back to my example of hemming pants, the kit only comes with 2 pins! I suppose in a pinch, one might try using some of the needles as pins, but for as little as pins cost, supplying only 2 in a sewing kit is pretty much inexcusable. For anyone who actually wants a small sewing kit to be actually useful as a sewing kit, and not the sewing equivalent of a travel first aid kit, this is not the right product to get. This is definitely not the "Best Sewing Kit for Home."

Just what I needed for a long trip! The case is a great size to fit anywhere in your luggage. I can’t believe how much they were able to get into such a small package! Everything you could possibly need! I am a sewer and I was so impressed with the amount of needles, thread (many colors), scissors, tape measure and more! Great buy!

I wanted something small to stick into an emergency bag mostly in case I need to make repairs to the bag itself or clothing and this does the job perfectly. Very light and small with pretty much everything you could conceivably need for on the go repairs. The dimensions listed are not quite right. I measure it to be 11cm x 12cm and 3cm at the highest point. This is because the position of the thimble is opposite the needle holder so it causes a bulge. It also seems like that could cause a problem because if the bag is impacted on the thimble it is likely to crack the thin plastic on the holder. I remedied this by switching the position of the thimble and one of the spools of cotton and now it closes easier and sits at the listed 2.5cm. That was the only minor issue I had really. Since I'm being so petty I thought I'd stick it on my very accurate scales too. It weighs 85.28g not the 23g listed but that hardly matters. The plastic parts and the needles themselves do admittedly feel kind of cheap and like something out of a budget Christmas cracker but they will do the job fine. The scissors however are great quality and the 'seam ripper' which I had never heard of before is good and sturdy and would be ideal for punching holes in leather prior to stitching, something that in the past I have needed to use a very thick needle and pliers to achieve (with many broken needles along the way). The needle dispenser rotates with a small hole on one side to let individual needles out so there is no risk of opening the pot and having them all spill out everywhere.
