Omega Twin Gear and Omega 8004 Long Term Report
This will be a difficult review because I have so many conflicting feelings about this juicer. I've had a couple other Omegas, an early model, now superceded and given to a good friend, and I currently own and use an 8004 plain jane white model, which is perhaps 5 years old and used daily. It has held up beautifully and does everything you'd expect and a couple things you don't (all good). But I must confess to a bit of chute size envy, my faithful 8004 has a rather small diameter chute and I've looked wistfully at the vertical auger models and the newer NC series. Then I stumbled on this twin gear model, hadn't seen it before as I wasn't really looking... have been pretty happy with my 8004. The thing with the feed chute is, large carrots won't fit in my 8004 chute, but if its a close fit you end up trying anyway (is that a guy thing??) putting more pressure and hoping it will clear... until it becomes obvious it won't make it and you'll have to take the machine apart to push the now hopelessly stuck carrot out the other way.... after a couple of events, I finally figured out the chute must be very slightly tapered. Aha! Also, a very large apple (mostly the Washington reds) can't be quartered, you have to go smaller, like 6ths or 8ths before they will fit in this chute.... or even smaller. So, you end up taking lots of extra time cutting things up to fit... some people may not mind, and I'm very good with a knife; but its time stolen out of a busy morning routine and I've got a daughter to take to school and a busy schedule in the office after, so its time I grudgingly give to a routine. I've also noticed that a machine with more parts, or which takes more time to disassemble and clean, is never going to be used... another reason I love the 8004, its just too easy to clean quickly... but I DO wish it had a wider chute :( The only other difficulty I've had with it isn't really a fair thing to complain about, but I'll mention it anyway... the main axial seal in the clear crushing chamber into which you put the auger is wearing a bit, and it allows some liquids to escape out the back, and this seeps into the clamping ring and drive nut area, which are very difficult to clean. To get around this, I just feed veggies is a little slower and watch the level of the liquids inside the chamber, and don't let it go too high. But when doing nut butters, some of the stuff always gets pushed out the back. I'll have to send the clear cylinder back to Omega for a replacement eventually, as the seal can't be replaced, I think.... which is sorta why I got the twin gear, to work as a stand in while the parts for the 8004 are being sourced. But anyway, this review is supposed to be more of my experiences with the new twin gear... sadly, I used it exactly once, then packed it back up. The time constraints and utility are MARKEDLY different from the 8004. For one thing, my mainstay are apples and carrots for juicing... I also do green leafy juices which this thing may be great for, but I never even got there, as this thing is nearly useless for carrots and apples. I did manage to get a tall glass, but it took nearly 45 minutes! (and that include cleaning after)First off, carrots CAN be done in the twin gear, but only just barely. The carrots skitter on the top of the gears, they are NOT pinched then drawn into the gears like you'd expect (like my 8004...). So I progressively cut the carrots thinner and thinner, until I was feeding in something like carrot sticks you'd feed a kid and pushing each and every one down (it requires feeding down with pressure, it never 'grabs' and self feeds). So, it pretty much lost me at that point. The good news is that the yield is noticeably higher, I got a lot more juice than I'd normally see, and the ejecta (pulp) was much, much drier and finer, as you'd expect from gears vs an auger. So, if your mainstay is green, leafy veggies then you might want to give this a whirl... but for most people running a variety of produce through it, its just too excruciatingly slow. The apples took so long the juice turned brown :( ...this was with the larger screen, not the fine screen (I got something closer to apple sauce rather than apple juice with big holed screen, but I wanted everything skewed to highest possible processing speed). So, again, if your thing is green leafy stuff or wheatgrass only, you might want to try it.... but only those people; so this is a highly specialized niche machine. Also, the screen was constantly flooded, it never drained sufficiently to see into it.... the 8004 will push stuff through eventually, mostly; the twin gear will just hold its last batch forever, it takes more into the chute to push the current batch out but it never pushes everything out, so you lose some inventory there. But, as I said, the yield is noticeably higher, so there is a net benefit to its extraction efficiency. Too bad it takes so long and isn't self feeding... so, regrettably, I can't recommend this one, much as I'd like to.

Broken Part can't be replaced
I would have given 5 stars because we loved it and then two months after purchasing this the ring that holds the gears in the casing broke. This has a 15 year warranty. It is now 8 days after contacting them (15 year warranty) and their customer service has only said that the part is on back order and she would check with the warehouse manager and not another word. I bought this because my husband has leukemia and juicing is an important part of his protocol and now this has been down for almost two weeks. The ring is heavy plastic and probably should be metal.I am extremely disappointed in their customer service. If they don't have the ring then replace the juicer, 2 months into the 15 year warranty.

Seasoned Juicer candid review
I start juicing since 2008 so I have used champion juicer, vertical low speed juicer, legacy Norwalk Juicer (current), and other omega single gear horizontal juicer. I bought this one for my parents and had tried it myself too.Pro: Doesn't heat up the juice. Slow speed, very quiet, preserve ingredients' nutrition and flavors well, use less ingredients to produce more juice, dry pulp, easy to clean, juice leafy ingredients like magicSuggestions:1.If you are first time user, I suggest you to read the manual VERY CAREFULLY and follow through the steps when doing first time assembling. Otherwise, you might ruin your twin gears.2.To juice hard ingredients like carrots or beets, I highly recommend you to cut them into SMALL THIN pieces. Otherwise, you will have to push carrots really hard to make them go through the twin gears, which is likely to damage the gears or motor when the force is too strong.3.The pulp screen easily block the filter pore when juice is coming down. I suggest NOT TO USE the screen, but just collect all the juice first without screen, then use sieve later to filter the juice. It will save you time from stirring the screen with spoon constantly and hoping the juice will go down smoothly while juicing at the same time.4. I wish the horse power is at least 3HP and outside finishing and handle could have being made of STAINLESS instead of plastic. With twin gears that comes only with 2HP, I personally feel it is a little bit weak on strength or its juicing torque. A $500 price machine, I expect a more classy look and sturdy heavy duty build than a cheesy silver plastic cover (you feel it can be broken anytime.). This is the BIGGEST disappointment. (Champion commercial juicer cost only $280 per machine but with 100% stainless case sturdy build and 3HP.)4.

The only negative I see is the casing around the screens(both fine and course) cracking after a couple months of use.
Give it a 4.5 star. The only negative I see is the casing around the fine screen is showing signs of stress cracking already. Hopefully Omega will fix this problem with a stronger plastic. I've sent Omega an email but they haven't responded after 2 weeks, yet. Other than that it's better than the Hurom vertical juicer we had before and gets a lot more juice too. A lot less noise too. Relatively easy to clean, a couple of minutes and it's done. After using this machine for over a year now I revised my ranking to a 3 star. The reason is it goes through screens(both fine and course) very regularly, seems they last maybe a couple months(using it 5 days a week) then they crack and need replacing.

Great juice.
Messy but great once you start understanding what works best with the different screens vs vegetable and fruit.

A lot of work for very little juice
This is not worth the money. Apples need to be cut in small slivers and pits removed! Huge regret spending g over 600$ for this machine it’s not better than my cheap older one
