Will this work if lotuses are kept inside and in water and not planted?

What do you mean 'kept inside and in water' e.g. Tubers kept indoors in a bucket, greenhouse, Flowers only in a vase? My experience with Lotus is they grow FAST, LARGE and SPREAD AGGRESSIVELY. Lotus are very heavy root feeders and need soil. They will never bloom indoors. Let me know if you need more info.
