I bought this and just put it in. It has been on the charger for3 hours but hasn't lit up or anything? Did I get a bad battery?

I found this remedy on one of the old Zune Repair sites "When your Zune has been dead for a time and will not charge at all. (Black screen with no battery icon) Sit with it in your lap and plug it in for 20 seconds then disconnect for 20 seconds. repeat several times and your device will begin to charge after several connect/disconnect cycles. Reason: The battery needs a small charge to initiate the charging circuit in the zune. When the battery is completely dead, there is no charge to start charging. When you first plug it in, a small burst of charge gets through before the circuit disables the charge as a protection. (It associates no internal voltage as a bad or missing battery.) So, connecting and disconnecting repeatedly will charge the battery very slightly each time, eventually retaining enough charge to allow the circuit to begin a standard charge." Worked for me when I tried it with new dead battery.

How difficult is it ro change the battery?

It can be difficult if you do not know how to solder wires. Opening the case car was easier than expected.

I have a zune 120gb. how do i know if it is 2nd gen.? says model 1376 on back.

The 120GB was a second generation model. First generation Zunes were 30GB.

What type battery for 30gb zune?

I’ve purchased this for Zune 80GB second gen, perfect Replacement. I believe the 120GB version uses the same as de 80GB. Not sure for the 30GB
