Do these prevent denting in the carpet ?

No not really, but they roll out of the dent in the carpet easier than normal wheels. If you're after easier rolling, these are for you. If you trying to prevent dents in the carpet, not so much. Try big wide pads instead of wheels as they spread force over greater area.
