This is my second AQS810W... my first is about five years old, and it's black with white lettering. The "Tough Solar" and "Illuminator" are long-gone, rinsed away by automotive degreasers and other auto repair chemicals, but I like it better without those pronouncements, anyway. Army Green, in my opinion, is an excellent color on this watch. The fact that this is not at all a glossy watch, but a matte (or semi-gloss?) finish makes the color attractively subtle. I like it even more than the black. Other than the color, though, it's the exact same watch I've been very happy with for the last five years. Easy to setup, rugged and sturdy, just the right size (for me) and an industrial, utilitarian look. This is a very comfortable watch to wear - light in weight, flexible band, no sharp edges or uncomfortable shapes. I spent a few weeks trying to decide what watch I was going to get, and I came to the conclusion that being solar-powered was my highest priority, followed by being quickly readable. Perhaps it is just me, but I can read a analog watch faster than a digital one - just a quick glance. I kept coming back the Casio's AQS810W series, and it came down to the darker, matte-finished colors. Having said all of that, this series of Casio watches is virtually trouble-free. Read the reviews! VERY FEW failures, defects, water intrusions. People who don't like this series of watches either find them incomprehensible to set or are unhappy with the small digital display or the lack of a backlight for the analog dial. The watches themselves are largely bulletproof, possessing anvil-like reliability and durability. They even have a feature that if the watch is dropped or knocked around too hard, and the analog hands get out of sync with the digital display, you can quickly and easily re-sync them. This series is one of Casio's best, in terms of being problem-free. Yes, they have acrylic crystals, not mineral glass, and they do scratch. Simply buff the scratches out, and it is as good as new. Worried about the band breaking or falling apart? On a regular basis, take the watch into the shower and scrub the whole thing with an old toothbrush and some shampoo. Not only will it be clean and look great, but removing the body oils, sweat and salts makes the bands last and last. That's the secret to getting Casio resin bands to live long lives. The analog dial is not lit, but neither is the dial on my Rolex or Omega. Just find a light source to reflect on the hands, and you're in business. Just like we've done for many years. Anyway, you can tell I am a fan. Buy with confidence, but download the pdf version of the Casio 5208 module operating instructions, and it'll be easier to set up the watch if you aren't very tech savvy. If you like the way this series of watches looks, then I'm pretty confident you'll be very happy with your purchase. Have fun!

I've had so many smartwatches from both Apple and for Android and a host of fitness trackers, all of which are fun, but after about a month or so you get fed up with having to charge them every night or go insane as you can't buy a replacement charging cable. So after finding out I had to go to visit 5 different time zones on a 2 week work trip, I wanted something to tell the time. I really liked the bright Orange Casios' but they we $500 bucks, so after a lot of umming and arrrring I settled for this little fella. I have to say I could be happier when I took it out of the box, the hands sprung to life and the time was correct (for east coast time anyway). A quick look at the manual revealed to change the city code and daylight saving. It's like 3 button presses. I couldn't be happier, this watch isn't too chunky so I feel fine wearing it in the evening as well as round the office. Being Solar is doesn't need charging, it's very comfortable (so much so I forget its on) and above all tells the time in two zones. It's a very subtle green, almost off grey and that matches the orange nicely (no where near as bright as in the photo). I just know this watch is here to stay and of course, I never mentioned the best part, the price! You could buy 10 of these for the price of a high-end smart watch. The only negative is it has made me realize how much money I wasted on the other watches, if you want to track fitness, just keep your phone in your pocket!

I am a deployed military person. I bought an expensive "field watch" for over two hundred dollars. It broke after being dropped once. I ordered this watch as a temporary watch to use until I can get home and get a replacement for the "expensive" watch. I can tell you without a doubt, this is a much better field watch than the 200+ dollar watch. It has a large face that is easy to read on the move. Although the viewing area for the face is large, the watch is surprising light. I wear it while exercising and doing military duties. I recently competed in a 15 mile ruck run and didn't even notice it on. Probably the most comfortable watch I have ever had. The lumination on the hands and numbers is pretty impressive for the price, and is very visible for a few hours. The digital portion gives you options of timer, stop watch, date, other time zone, and alarm. I am far sighted, so the digital window can be hard to read while moving or when using the light. If I have my reading glasses on, there is no issue. For military personnel, the light on the watch only works on the digital display, and therefore gives off very little light while still making the digital time very visible. You can easily maintain light discipline and check the time, timer, or stop watch without creating a glow like other watches do. I usually don't wright reviews, but I love this watch that much. It gives you the best of an analogue and a digital watch in a light, comfortable, dirt cheap package.

A picture of how it lights at night would kill all sales if anyone needs a good readable watch in the dark with a lighted dial as the description says. Just the little LCD insert lights up so it shows just the day and seconds. I guess the date of the day can't fit in the little rectangular LCD insert. I collect watches and this Casio Tough Solar is a superb analog dial watch for working with. This one is solar, so the price is good for that feature, as most Casios may be quartz battery types. This one is for an off shore sea worker so it will stand up to the tough work he does. I wore my Casio, a digital solar, for 14 years now and I build, work hard and these watches from Casio can last surprisingly long. Other brand watches would finally give out for one reason or another as a work watch. The price for this one is affordable for a simple but tough watch that will last over a decade, maybe two.

Awesome watch!! I bought this watch three weeks ago, and I couldn't be more pleased. I needed a watch with a rubber strap. I work with natural stone, and the majority of the tools we use are water tools. I have never owned a watch with a rubber bracelet before this one, and I am very impressed with how comfortable and easy to keep clean it is. I also enjoy the green, orange and black color scheme. This watch has held up great! I shower with, swim, and work in this watch. I am very rough on this thing, and so far it has handled everything well. The solar feature works great! I received it with a full charge, and after the first day it dropped to medium. I placed it in a window seal for a few hours, and it has held a full charge ever since. I enjoy how lightweight and comfortable this watch is as well. It fits well on my medium sized wrist, it is not too big and bulky, but it is not a small watch either. The large numbers on the dial glow, and the digital screen has an illumination light. The digital display is kind of small, but the analog is very easy to read. The Arabic numerals are very large making them easy to read. This watch has all the great features you would want from a digital watch, with the style of an analog watch. All of the digital features are easy to use. I have always worn, and preferred an analog watch, so the : stopwatch, dual timers, and alarms have all been nice to have. The watch comes with a manual, but it is kind of small and hard to read. I would recommend going to Casio's web page where you can view, save, and print a much larger and easier to read version of the manual. The manual is easy to understand, and the watch is easy to program. This is my first Casio, and I could not be more pleased! I'm now thinking about investing in a G-Shock. The digital features on this watch have made me want one with a larger digital display, so I am wanting to buy a digital only watch. The GW6900-1 looks cool and is atomic and solar! It is also a good buy at around $79.00 on amazon right now. Check it out too, if you think you want a full screen digital instead, and don't mind spending a little extra cash.

Read the instructions on its setup. Not terribly intuitive on the setup. Nice clear large numbers for aging eyes. Quick glance is all that’s needed to check the time. Like the deep olive green band. Very light & plasticky. Miss the metal buckle from older similar watches. You’ll have to spend more for that. Overall a nice basic watch.

I normally don't write many reviews; however, this watch is an exception. First, it is a $40 watch. On that premise, it will not have the Carbon Core associated with a GShock watch or an atomic clock function. It does do the following REALLY well: 1) You set the clock once, and it keeps that exact time. 2) It is very water resistant. I spent a full 6 days, 12 hours a day, at Summer Camp getting BSA lifeguard certified. I never took off the watch. I swam 3 miles, dove 12 to 13 feet down retrieve dozens of 10 lbs anchors, and swam out to retrieved three exhausted swimmers. This watch didn't miss a beat. 3) The crystal can take a beating without scratching. The watch hit several canoe gunnels, face first and I can't find a scratch 4) it is very light weight and quite comfortable. I forgot I was wearing watch, even when doing water rescue exercises and people grabbing my wrists and the watch. 5) The analog watch hands are big and easy to read. The digital display does take a few hours, for me, to fully understand how to program and get used to it. However, I can now easily cycle through day, date, and digital time. I believe that Casio keeps the digital seconds displayed because the analog hands lack a second hand. That may take some getting used to, but I learned to appreciate it. In the end, this $40 watch does everything I need. I was looking for a durable watch with analog hands I could use for Boy Scouts, and the green model fit the bill. If you travel, which I don't, you have the World Time feature, but you must determine for yourself what features to prioritize. For me it was: 1) Durable 2) Long life, Tough Solar for the win 3) Easy to read analog hands 4) very water resistant. I am not a diver, and 15 feet depth is the most I would expect to dive.

This attractive watch has no second hand. I thought that it did when I ordered it. It also has no stem for adjusting the hands. So, I highly recommend keeping the user's manual in a place you won't forget. I initially ruled out any watch without a stem, but in the reviews no one complained, so I rethought it. Also, the price of just under $33 was good, especially for a solar powered watch. (My best watch is an Eco-Drive solar powered Citizen dress watch and I very much like it.) I think solar power is ... the best. I like the olive drab color, better than black, perhaps partly just as a change. This watch is actually 50mm wide / diameter when including the push buttons. Any larger a watch would be a deal breaker for me, but it fits the rugged image. Considering its size, it is light. With the Japanese movement, I think you can set and forget this watch for months at a time. I'm glad I bought it, I have no regrets.

I have been using this watch for the past 8 years! I bought it here, in Amazon and have been using and loving this product. Not once have I had to replace the battery even, as the heavy lifting is done by the solar panel in the background. Had to change the strap after 7 years coz it was worn out. I have used this watch extensively during long motorcycle rides and extreme outdoor activities like mountain climbing. I have also worn this watch during casual diving and swimming in the river etc. Really good product from Casio.

Love this watch although a little bit complicated to set up. Have had it a few months and keeps good time. Definitely value for money as someone (ex military) actually assumed it was a G Shock and asked where they could get one from as they were surprised it was solar.
