Captain America: Super Soldier - Playstation 3

Although i have owned all 3 Playstation platforms as well as the PSP, i don't consider myself a die hard gamer. With the price though, and my love of comic books (as well as enjoying the Captain America movie) i decided to pick up a copy of the Captain America after reviewing many favourable reviews. i am glad i did so. Because i'm not playing video games all the time i'm always a little hesitant on newer games (enjoy graphics during gameplay etc of new games but dislike how some require you to purchase a seperate gamebook just to get through to the end). Captain America is easily playable and just an all around fun game. Gameplay does seem rather short but still delivered hours of entertainment. i am pleased with the price, speed of delivery, and the game itself overall.

Im not a "gamer " , so I dont play a game all the way though in hours . I savor the enjoyment of the game an the money I dished out for each game . It a very good game , not hard at all , but fun as you twist an kick a Hydra badguy an throw the shelid at them as well as the monster machines that the Skull has. I guess im about a third though the game . You get to fight such Hydra bad guys as , Madame Hydra , Baron Von Skucker an a bunch a robotic machines that fire guns at "Cap " . I did get stuck at a few spots , an the "walkthoughs " don't help . You jump an swing alot as you go though the chapters . It's a really fun game . The grapfics are very good , and you should enjoy some hours playing this game .

Okay, I just finished the game tonight, so I thought I would write my review for anyone on the fence about giving this game a try. I'll do my best to make this as accurate and helpful as possible.All in all, I found it to be a fun game. It was good but not great. It could have used a bit more "fine tuning" but it still came out a better product than the recent bombs Sega has scraped up with the Marvel license. Since Cap doesn't fly, that was one area they didn't have to mess with so they could focus on combat.Synopsis: The story of the game takes place entirely in WW2. It's not the complete journey from Cap's origin to him getting frozen after stopping the missile (although, that might not have been a bad thing being that it would have added a few more hours to the game)but rather, it's just one segment of his battles during the war. Your goal is to assist the allies in stopping Hydra from using the Super Soldier serum that created you as a weapon of their own. The story is pretty much the kind you would expect from a solid summer action movie, so it works for this game.Gameplay: The most important part. For the most part, combat is pretty solid. It's basically a mix between Batman Arkham Asylum and X-Origins Wolverine. The combat isn't as fast or as smooth as the other two probably because they used the Unreal engine, but it's still effective. It's fun to do spin kicks on Nazis and deflect bullets back at enemies with your shield. You can also throw your shield as a weapon and it's also your main defense. As you defeat enemies, you will build up energy you can use for super finishing moves. Each one of these moves comes with a bone-crushing slow motion (kind of like the x-ray attacks in the new Mortal Kombat). There are also several puzzles and "obstacle courses" mixed in the gameplay to keep it from getting too repetitive.Graphics and Sound: The graphics aren't the best, Sega could have spent more time tuning them up. They're still passable, not great but not horrible either. If the game came out 4 years ago, the graphics would have been on par with most of the other games out at the time, but not with the technology we have now. The music is okay, but it's nothing memorable. The voice acting is probably the best part. Chris Evans does fine as well as the rest of the cast.Cons: Like I said, the game is good but not great. Aside from the graphics and the fact that the game is only about 7 hours long, there are a few other things I wanted to point out. One thing that really bothered me was the controls. They're not bad, but there's just no alternative controls or options to change them to your liking. Most of the time I took a hit was when I held L2 to block (Wolverine) instead of L1 in this game or when I pressed Triangle to counter (Batman) instead of pressing Circle in this game. A controls option would have been nice. Also, sometimes it became very confusing on where to go to your next objective unless you looked at the map very carefully. An option to click L3 or R3 to point to next objective (Dead Space) would also have been convenient.Cons Cont. (SPOILER ALERT) You do NOT fight Red Skull in the entire game...EVER! Not even at the very end. The final "boss" is a robot controlled by Zola and about a dozen Hydra soldiers. You only see Red Skull in cut-scenes. I'm sorry but it's almost an unwritten rule, you have to have a one-on-one final boss fight with your arch enemy at the end of every action game like this, especially a super hero game. After I beat Zola, I was excited thinking "okay, I'm about to finally fight Red Skull! Man, he's probably gonna be hard as crap." No dice; I was very disappointed.So, there you have it. IMO, this game is not worth $60, but for me, it was $37.49 (AMAZON) that I didn't regret. It's probably not for everyone, but hopefully, my review will at least let you know what you're in for.

I purchased a new PS3 just so I could own and play this game. I read the reviews for other game systems that I have and none were as good as the ones for PS3. I now understand why! The graphics are absolutely AMAZING!!!! The game-play is marvelous and engaging! Fact of the matter is that it has been the hit of the holidays in our house. Everyone in the house has taken a turn playing the game to the point that I have not been able to play it since before Christmas.I can easily recommend this version of the game to anyone considering it. You will love it. A wonderful tie-in to the movie and a lot of fun for comic book fans.Well Done Sega!!! Marvel can be proud!

I did not see the movie but if this game is like the movie when it is released I will definitely have to watch it. This game lives up to the whole concept of Super Soldier. I like this Captain America, everything about his is from the whole Marvel Universe. His moves and techniques are just incredible to watch and apply. I still cannot put this game down and look forward everytime to playing it. The graphics and special effects are really good. Please purchase it, you will enjoy it.

Love it

The is one of my least favorite game based upon on a movie and comic book. The visuals look stunning and there's an original story even though it's not entirely like the movie. If you like the movie, then you will probably like this. This is the first 3-D game based upon on the Captain America character in which it looks modern. The gameplay is good even though I had a few issues with it and is creative because you can control Captain America to use his shield in a number of different ways, decipher keypads to open doors, finding secret items for points, and use tactical vision to see through hidden items. Captain America is very athletic when he is grappling onto something and is fast enough to evade danger. The Iron Cross,Screamer,Madame Hydra, and Baron von Strucker, and Armin Zola are the most challenging enemies in the game. There is also the option like any other superhero game in the past to upgrade to a different costume for anyone who wants to see their favorite Captain America in action. The challenge mode is okay at best if you go from easiest to hardest in a matter of time to receive the gold. The issues I had with this game was it could have been more fun if Bucky Barnes was available in a co-op mode. Also, the the keypads can be difficult to decipher sometimes. A another issue I had trouble in trying to deflect the bullets from Madame Hydra while I was trying to defeat her with Cap's shield. It's a tricky situation in how to use the shield to perform that move. It's a good game, but the developers could have produced better gameplay in using the Bucky Barnes character more often, making it easier to decipher keypads, and using a much less sophisticated move in defeating Madame Hydra.

boss fights are unfair hydra has guns you have to block and waves of extra enemys on her side thats really crappy and unfair i would not buy it capt america should have guns if the bosses have guns von struker boss cheats blocks all your hits gets his energy back if you miss one button sequence at least the wii version gives the player a fair chance ps3 games are allways unfair sony sucks why does evey boss have extra enemys that is not fair
