Sound Tactical Concepts not Enough Drills
The book is a good foundation to understanding the 4-3-3 formation. However, the drills are not designed to implicitly coach players the intricacies of the various phase of the 4-3-3. Some of the methodology is different from other interpretation of space in modern soccer. For instance the author doesn't talk about the 4 phases (Build Up, Consolidation, Incision and Finish) he speaks of three phases instead. He divides the pitch vertically as three zones A,B,C while Horizontally as two 2 Side Zone and one Central Zone. There's no discussion or mention of the Half Space that is so important in modern soccer. The Concept of Build Up against various formation is spot on, however, how to translate it into a drill that implicitly or explicitly teach the players is where the book fall short. Overall if you are a coach that have a solid foundation of possession and positional based football, some of the ideas and concepts and variations will help greatly.
