Mines weighing 3.8oz and ive used a few feet, so I'd imagine you'd be correct with your calculation of 4oz. Hope this helps.

Is this resistant to gasoline?

I have never had this wire exposed to gasoline. It is not a good thing to do. please us nylon or something else that will not spark. good luck and have fun. ray

can i use for tennis racquet

Personally I would not, I would stick to the conventional racket string. This wire is very hard to twist. It requires pliers to bend a small piece to a 90deg angle making it very hard to be molded to a racquet. I would recommend the Tourna Synthetic Gut 16 gauge. It's a 660' reel and has worked the best for me with increased tension and veeeery very crisp to about 55-60lb. It should be available on Amazon Prime for a good price, but ignore the price, this string is underpriced for how it performs for me!
