Pro-Pectalin Chewable Probiotic for Pets, 250 Count

We have rescue hounds, and they get into everything all the time. One of them got a bad case of diarrhea, and we nursed her through it with a diet of white rice and boiled chicken for a few days. Then her sister got it. I don’t know what was causing this, but the sister didn’t come out of it with the change of diet at all. Before armchair warriors get all excited, please know that our hound acted totally normal in every other way, and we would have rushed her to a vet if she had signs of a more severe illness other than just an intestinal upset. I was trying to avoid a huge vet bill. The last time one of them had a simple bladder infection, it was close to $1000 just for a run of ten days of antibiotics and one checkup! In March of 2026, I took a feral kitten I had rescued in for shots and worming, and it was right at $700 for a standard exam and one booster visit! WOW! I was in shock. Turns out, a lot of private vet practices in our area are either partially funded or bought out by big corporations, which then nearly double the prices. Anyway, I was talking to a friend of mine about what was going on with our beautiful hound girl, and how I was dreading taking her to the vet because of the skyrocketing cost of care. My friend has rescued dogs for years, and she told me about this product. She said that they used to take their dogs to an old-time country vet and that this is the only thing he would recommend for dogs with chronic diarrhea, and how great it worked with their rescue dogs. I thought, “well, I’m gonna give this a shot before I spend another thousand dollars on a case of diarrhea,” and I’ll be darned if it didn’t work within 36 hours! Now these are really big pills, and it’s one pill for 20 pounds, but oh my gosh, they give you a lot; it’s so worth it, and my dog ate them like yummy treats! Note: Hounds eat EVERYTHING, which is what probably got us into this situation in the first place. Really, don’t be like me and waste your money on other products that hardly work, if at all. If you’re gonna buy something for a regular case of intestinal upset that’s not a vet prescription, get this. It is the only thing that stopped the diarrhea in my hound. I saw noticeable improvement within 24 hours. Within one day, she was firming up, and within two and a half days she was back to normal. I can’t say enough about how great this product is. I wish I had known about it years ago. But alas, you find out things when the time is right, and I hope my review is the right time for you and your sweet animal companion! I hardly ever write reviews, but this product is so great I had to take a moment to let other people who may be desperately searching for something know that Pro-Pectalin totally worked for our hound. It’s got a long shelf life, like two years, so go ahead and buy yourself a container if you’ve got one dog or ten. Especially if you have pesky hounds like ours that get into everything the moment your eyes aren’t on them, and then get a raging case of doggy diarrhea. The moment any of our get a little loose, they get a dose of Pro-Pectalin, and they are fine the next day.

Our veterinarian recommended this when our dog was having stomach issues, and it worked really well. It helped settle his stomach quickly, was easy to give, and he tolerated it well. I’m glad to have found something our vet recommends that actually works. We’ll definitely keep this on hand.

I like that this comes in tablet form so we can keep a stock on hand. The pricing also presents value for money since you get 60 tablets for almost the same price as the 30cc paste. Definitely recommend for pups who have diarrhea and you need a quick fix to calm the GI tract. Works even when it's explosive too so it has become the go to fix for when these things happen. If your dog doesn't eat tablets well (they are large) just crush it up and put it in the food. It's very easy to cut and crush.

I've kept this on hand since it was first given to me by my vet several years ago. Over the years, it has been so great to help resolve occasional soft or loose stools for my dogs. When we adopted our boxer at 10 months old, he had bad diarrhea from the food and stress at the shelter and he also had food sensitivities we were unaware of at the time. We gave him these every 8-12 hours for several months until his system regulated and then we've just kept on hand and used as needed for all of our dogs. Of course, you need to take your dog to the vet to make sure there's no parasite or infection that requires prescribed medication, but most of us know our dogs and know when they might be just experiencing a sensitive tummy vs serious illness and keeping these on hand will help with the occasional sensitive tummy due to food transition or eating too much of something they're not used to. I just crush the tablets (they're easily crushed into fine powder) and mix into canned food. It does have an identifiable smell and/or taste; I can tell my dogs know it's there but they don't mind it. If they won't eat, I have been able to cover in pill pockets or Twist and Lick Simpill gel and they take it that way, but I've only done that twice and it was because my dog didn't want food and I needed her to get this into her system. It has helped my dogs time and time again and I will always keep it on hand. There's also a paste available which was a better option for my chihuahua who was a very finicky eater and my big dogs have used the paste at times too and it's very easy to dispense, but these tablets are easier to keep on hand.

This product works for diarrhea issues. I have no problem with the product. Will order again this time from Chewy! The item says now and when I ordered on Saturday delivery tomorrow. Then once I ordered delivery Monday which was fine. Monday delivery was scheduled for Thursday 6 days later finally got my order and today it still is advertised as delivery tomorrow. During that time my dog had terrible diarrhea and this product is not available locally. You must give accurate delivery estimates not false promises.

Excellent! Works quickly and my dog loves the taste. I tried the paste from my vet but the chewables are easier to give. Wish I knew about these sooner!
