does the prongs hold up well? do they get out of shape after opening and closing a few times?

They seem to hold up well. However, I don't open and close them that often.

Are these guaranteed to be red?

No. I ordered a 3 pack of red and received a multi colored pack with no red. I had to send back and re order. I had to do this twice with two different colors.
