Jotun Penguard Special is a two pack, polyamide cured, high molecular weight epoxy coating. It is a zinc phosphate pigmented, high build product specially designed as a primer for galvanised steel. It can be used as a primer as part of a complete system in atmospheric environments. Suitable for properly prepared carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, galvanised steel and thermally sprayed zinc substrates. Jotun Penguard Special is suitable for structural steel and piping to be exposed to corrosive environments. Recommended for offshore environments, refineries, power plants, bridges, buildings and mining equipment. VOC Level: 429g / Litre Touch Dry: 4 hours @ 10°C / 1 hour @ 40°C Over-Coating: 16 hours @ 10°C / 3 hours @ 40°C Maintenance Cycle: 2 Years Thinning & Cleaning: Jotun Thinner No.17 Number of Coats: 2 Product compatibility: Depending on the actual exposure of the coating system, various primers and topcoats can be used in combination with this product. Previous coat: epoxy, epoxy mastic, zinc epoxy, zinc silicate Subsequent coat: acrylic, epoxy, polyurethane, polysiloxane Surface preparation: To secure lasting adhesion to the subsequent product all surfaces shall be clean, dry and free from any contamination. Carbon steel:Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1) Stainless steel:Abrasive blast cleaning to achieve a surface profile using approved nonmetallic abrasive media which is suitable to achieve a sharp and angular surface profile. Aluminium:Abrasive blast cleaning to achieve a surface profile using approved nonmetallic abrasive media which is suitable to achieve a sharp and angular surface profile. Galvanized steel:Light brush blasting w/ nonmetallic abrasive.
