Sound purchase
Extracts the audio from the incoming hdmi signal. Works perfectly and still keeps the audio working on the outgoing hdmi signal.

So happy, my ancient B&O TV without hdmi is usable again. I use DVI socket so needed this box for the sound. Works perfectly.

This is terrible
Terrible bit of kit, bought it to go with my Amazon fire stick as my monitor has no jack inout and the connection cuts out every few seconds , sometimes it lasts a minute but seems to consistently cut out and keeps resetting the fire stick so no way to use the fire stick which is what I originally bought it for, I have just tested it out on my PlayStation that I just bought and it is almost worse as it cuts out for about ten seconds then comes back on . Stay away from this dodgy bit of tech

So why 3 Stars?
Great piece of kit: cheap (bought it at ยฃ19.99), tiny, and worksโฆ most of the time. So why 3 stars? Knock one star because this thing gets HOT. Letโs be honest: this will be on all the time as it is a thing that can forget once installed. Thereโs no off button, and itโs driven by USB. Great. But it gets hot, and hot enough to go โThatโs actually really hot!โ. Knock one more star due to it starting to stop working and flash all lights oddly. I believe this is just a matter of time. I have to reach around and unplug it, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in again. It usually stops working prior to usage, but it has twice stopped working during usage. So what do I use this for? Simple: because the Amazon 4K TV only supports one headset, and (when headset is connected along with a number of Samsung sound bars), it drops the sound connection meaning that the sound bar turns off: โyouโve no music going through, so I will turn off to save powerโ. This little device stops that from happening and allows my Bluetooth transceiver to pull audio off the HDMI cable without letting the Amazon 4K TV knowing. Works a treatโฆ when fully working. Cost price: amazing Works for what I need it to do: absolutely Am I comfortable having it on all the time and working: not really

PS3 problem solved
Worked perfectly for a specific problem I had, Iโll say what it was. I had a ps3 and had it hooked up to a monitor with no audio output or speakers (the ps3 doesnโt have one.) and this was the only way for me to get to listen to the game audio (instead of buying a pair of headphones that Sony no longer makes.) so if anybody else is in this super particular predicament then yeah I recommend you get one of these. Video quality remains mostly the same, however it requires you to sacrifice a usb port on the console just for it to power on, but Iโm unsure about any changes to fps.

Impressive sound. Good value.
Worked straight away out of the box. Impressive sound quality. I had not realised that it can do 5.1 as well as normal stereo output. Also good value compared with named brands.

OJO CON LAS CONEXIONES HDMI.
El equipo funciona bien, PERO OJO!: - La conexiรณn HDMI IN a la TV. - La salida รPTICA al equipo audio. Esta configuraciรณn puede parecer correcta, pero no. La conexiรณn HDMI OUT tambiรฉn la tuve que conectar a la misma TV. De esta forma si funciona.

Works great on Apple TV 4K
I have been looking for an audio extractor for the Apple TV 4K, for reason that my (old but good) AVR only has HDMI pass through. It does not decode audio. And unlike the previous Apple TV, the latest does not have optical/audio out. There are so many of these audio extractors available, and none have consistently good reviews. I purchased a different one on Amazon which I returned because the video picture was distorted and all snow. In a second attempt I purchased this Amazon Basics extractor. Works great! Picture is no different than without the extractor. And now I have optical out for my AVR. That sound is great as well. Pretty much plug and play device. The only adjustment I made was to the Apple TV audio setting. It did not recognize that Dolby 5.1 was switched on the extractor. However it did allow me to select it. Doing so, surround sound kicked in and the Dolby indicator lit up on my AVR. Sounds great! Even sounds better than the old Apple TV with optical out.
