Purchased: August 2023 Review: September 2024 Primary Use: Miniature painting Hours in use: At least 100+ Issues: None Would Recommend: Yes Pros -It's nice to have color options to get an idea of how the paint job will look when displayed. Good warm, bright white, and cool white colors. -The brightness is good for painting while not being straining on the eyes. -The arm adjusts easily and stays exactly where you put it; no sagging. -The base is heavy enough to support the lamp in any position; no tipping. -The amount of magnification is excellent for tiny details. -It's nice to have the option of using the base or the table mount. -No flickering of the LED. Cons -If using the base, you need to hold the base when adjusting the arm. Not an issue if using the mount. -The nut holding the head needs tightened if moving it regularly. -The arm feels a little short if using the table mount on the back of a desk. I end up using the base for the most part, so I can get it closer without lowering the head too much. Customer Service: EXCELLENT! -Recently, I *thought* my lamp was failing, but it turned out that it was the third-party power adapter (NOT the one that came with the lamp, which I lost) that was the issue. However, I contacted KIRKAS before realizing this. They immediately sent a replacement and were exceptionally understanding when I discovered my mistake and reported it to them. Their response time was quick, the person I spoke with was professional, patient, and kind, and they stand by their product 100%. I would buy from them again.

When it arrived, I thought it was packed so small it never would work! Surprise, the lamp replaces one that was damaged when I moved and it was 30 years old. This is perfect with LCD lighting, able to mount by clamp or the heavy stand it also comes with, the choice is mine! The white color brightens the work area and magnification is super for these old eyes. The cost was very reasonable and it arrived a day early! I should have done this sooner since technology has changed. Old dogs learn new tricks! After a year it turns off and ruins my quilting. I think there is a short in the wiring since it goes off and on or just fades. I cannot use it since it is unreliable. Is it foreign made?

When I first opened this lamp and got it assembled, I found it woefully lacking in craftsmanship and feeling wobbly and cheap. I actually started putting it back in the box to return it when I decided to use it for the night. I found that the multiple light types (white, yellow, etc.) and the multiple brightness settings exceeded my expectations. The magnifying glass is powerful but small. Hard to look through it with both eyes able to search for equal detail). I have kept it because—for the low cost—I doubt I could get anything better, and it works ok. It just isn’t what I would have gotten from a $300 one if that makes any sense. Range of motion without tipping is limited. Base isn’t particularly heavy. It is useable but not enjoyable to use if that makes any sense. I have to work around some of its flaws to use it effectively.

First, the good: At ~$35, this magnifying lamp is a steal--it's the only one that I could find that had the features in a regular desk lamp that I was looking for: adjustable color range and dimmability. If you think about it, those features don't necessarily lend themselves to a magnifying lamp--most likely you would want ~6000K (daylight) color and high brightness all the time...but because this has those adjustments, I'm able to use it as a regular desk lamp and switch to magnifying if I happen to need it. While there are only three color modes, the brightness on this has ten levels, and at the highest it's much brighter than most desk lamps. Honestly, three color modes is pretty much enough for most people--you have yellowish lights for night time relaxation, whitish light for normal usage, and blue (daylight) light for when you really need to see every detail. At 800 lumen, it's about as bright as a 60 watt (frosted) light bulb, and at 80 lumen, it's like a (somewhat bright) night light. That covers a lot of bases. Now, the bad: I'm going to agree with a previous reviewer and note that the stem by which this lamp connects to the base seems poorly made--folded sheet metal going into a hole reminds me of something you might find on an old tent pole, not a lamp. This makes adjusting the lamp a bit awkward--knowing that the meeting point is weak means you'll probably want to do it with both hands to avoid putting too much pressure on that particular joint. It's also fairly easy to adjust this lamp so that it will fall over when it's in the base. I suppose this adds flexibility to those who want to clamp it to their desk, but it might be annoying for someone who wants to adjust it with one hand while it's sitting in the base. Admittedly, it's a small complaint... but if you're planning on using this more for a magnifying lamp than a regular desk one, I would probably look elsewhere. Those gripes aside, this is a great deal for someone that wants a desk lamp that can occasionally work as a magnifying lens, and as far as I'm concerned it's a 5 star value if that's what you want.

This lamp is great for model building or working with small electronics. It offers even light, the color temperature of the light is adjustable and the brightness is as well. If come with the option to clamp to a desk or use the included very solid heavy base for the desktop. Position stays put. Directions, are unclear however. I am not sure why it talks about charging the light with the included USB C plug. It is NOT USB C, and it has no battery, it needs to be plugged in. Not a deal breaker for me, but the directions just don't seem to be for this product perhaps. Who needs directions anyway....it is super easy to use out of the box

This was a great addition to my fly tying desk, especially when tying smaller flys. The light is exactly in the working area for my vice. It’s now October (I got this lamp in January). I was very impressed with this lamp however it started to fail about a month ago. The switch works on occasion but getting worse quickly. It started turning itself on over night so I’ve had to keep it unplugged when not in use, very inconvenient. I’ve noticed the power brick gets pretty warm when plugged in. I’ve tried other power bricks but the failures continue. I’ll be getting a replacement from another source, hopefully the quality will be better.

I might say it's a great lamp for $36. The three-hued light is neat, max brightness is good, and the dimming works as it should, although I'll probably never change either (it's nice to know you can set it how you want, though). The magnifier does seem like a good one (clear zoom-ins!), though smaller than the full-size lamp I used to have years ago. Minor downsides that in the end are not a big deal, just things I've noticed: * You have to be cognizant of adjusting the arm when on the desktop base or the lamp tips over. Straight ahead, it's okay, but if it's angled off to the side (it has limits on how far to each side it will go) it's easy to get it in a tip-over position. * The desk clamp base doesn't really fit the arm quite right. The arm fits down in the base and swivels, but there's a knob-screw that on the desktop base lets it swivel but keeps it from pulling out. On the clamp base, the knob screw doesn't go in the slot on the arm bottom, so when you adjust the arm it's easy to accidentally pull it out. Neither of those is a big deal, since you can get the light in the position you want and do what you want to do. Just some extra care when repositioning it. The only "big bummer" is the USB power brick on mine (the lamp is USB powered, with an included plug-in USB power wart) worked once, then was dead. I use the lamp with a power wart I happened to have on hand (2 amp works, 1 amp is not enough). I sent an email to the support address included on a card with the lamp, but have not heard back (three days). I think it's unlikely that another lamp would have the same failure - most likely it'll work fine - but if something does not work, I would not count on support taking care of it. So I say "big bummer", but it just means it costs me another $4 for using my own USB power wart; not too bad in the greater scheme of things.

This is like having another set of hands. I picked it up for fine hobby work but my wife uses it to work on her fingernails. It's great for anything you want llight and enlarged on while keeping your hands free. I wanted a magnifying glass with light and this fit the bill for my workbench. Comes with a table top or edge mount that is easily switched between, multiple light settings of color and brightness and has been working with no issues. I would consider buying this again whenever the time comes that I had a need but this doesn't seem like it will die anytime soon.
