Great labor saving device!
This tool allows me to do what I otherwise wouldn't be able to. I purchased 72 liriope and that meant 72 3 inch holes in my yard. We're experiencing both a heat wave and smoke in the air from fires in Canada, resulting in unhealthy air. Not a good time to be exerting oneself outdoors. I first called the company to be sure the product I wanted would fit my 3/8" drill. The only one they had was a 12 long auger that cuts a 3 inch hole. I had thought I wanted a longer one, but, as it turns out, longer is heavier, and heavier is more steel to deal with. The 12 inch was perfect. It took me 3 hours to dig the 72 holes, and that includes 2 breaks to cool down indoors. I'd still be there without it. As to how well the product worked to cut the holes, I cannot be more pleased. It cuts well, it's almost effortless, quite a difference from using a trowel or a shovel or a post hole digger. The area where I was working has a lot of roots so the auger had a tougher job than cutting through soil only. The one caveat I'd say is that the drill you use must be able to reverse direction. I needed to do that occasionally to release the auger from the roots it encountered. Overall, the tool is worth far more than the price and I'm a lucky guy to have found it. BTW, I'm 74 years old and can use all the help I can find when digging in the garden. This tool does the job!

Works Pretty Well, But You Need Arm Strength
I bought this to use as a tiller, because tillers are really expensive, and they are difficult for me to use at times. I didn’t expect this to be perfect for that, and I certainly don’t expect to till acres of ground with this, but I figured I could make do considering this thing costs about a tenth as much as a halfway decent small gas tiller. I just got it yesterday, and I’m liking it pretty well overall. I have it attached to a basic Black & Decker 20V cordless drill. I am using it on the slow speed setting as recommended by the company. However, at the slow speed, it really doesn’t do much, except in soil that is already pretty soft. Even in soft soil, my drill will bog down often and stop spinning. On the fast speed, it does perform quite well. However, I only tried that briefly, as I don’t want to risk breaking my wrist since I don’t have the side handle drill the company recommends. The thing is, the side handle drills I found almost all cost about as much as a small tiller, anyway. And I mean, if I could afford the drill, I would have just bought a small tiller. (I do have a small tiller, but it doesn’t work as well as I’d like for it to.) If you use this thing for what it’s meant for, just digging holes, it works pretty well. It did NOT work well in the hard soil near the side of my house, however in softer soil it worked fine. But don’t expect it to till a small herb bed like I was hoping to use it for. I also suffer from pain in my forearm a lot as a result of an injury a few weeks ago, and this thing is ROUGH on that. Even after 2 minutes of use, my arm is aching quite a bit. I think it takes pretty strong forearms to use this a lot unless you do have one of the side handle drills.

Make planting flowers so much easier!
I am thrilled with the Power Planter DIY Guru Garden Auger! This 3"x12" drill bit hole digger has revolutionized the way I tackle gardening tasks. If you're a gardener or landscaper, this tool is an absolute must-have. First and foremost, let's talk about efficiency. This auger makes digging holes an absolute breeze. Whether I'm planting bulbs, installing fence posts, or creating holes for shrubs, the Power Planter gets the job done in a fraction of the time it would take with traditional methods. The 3-inch diameter is perfect for a wide range of tasks. It effortlessly cuts through soil, even in tough or compacted areas. The depth of 12 inches is ideal for most planting needs, providing ample room for roots to grow and thrive. One of the standout features is the 3/8" non-slip hex drive. This ensures a secure connection to my drill, giving me confidence that the auger will stay in place during use. The hex drive design is also excellent for preventing slipping, even in dense or rocky soil. The build quality of the Power Planter is outstanding. It's sturdy and durable, built to withstand the rigors of regular use in the garden. The construction is solid, and the auger bit is sharp and efficient, making quick work of any digging task. Additionally, the versatility of this tool is impressive. Not only is it great for digging holes, but it also serves as a fantastic bulb planter. I've used it to effortlessly create perfect holes for bulbs, ensuring they're planted at the ideal depth for optimal growth. In conclusion, the Power Planter DIY Guru Garden Auger is a gardener's best friend. It's efficient, versatile, and built to last. If you're tired of back-breaking manual digging or want to speed up your planting process, I highly recommend adding this auger to your gardening arsenal. It's a game-changer that will save you time and effort while producing fantastic results.

Excellent Value, Excellent Product, Drills Right Through Clay
The best digging and gardening product I have purchased. Holes for fence post; holes for small trees, you name it. This product was suggested on Consumer Reports so I thought I would give it a try for my outdoor work and it is awesome. I recommend it to anyone that may have a yard full of clay. It will drill right through the clay...give it a try.

Excellent for soil borings prior to planting flowers
I am a geologist, so this auger was excellent. I tried both a battery-powered drill and a 110-volt drill. Both work OK, but if 110-volts is available, then use a power extension cord. The 110-volt drill has better torque. I was pleased to learn that the soil auger also works in a horizontal position. Was able to shear the hard clayey soil and loosen it up. Previously, I used an 8-inch deep auger, but now realize that the 12-inch deep auger is far better and more versatile. This auger helped to drill a garden hole about two feet wide and two feet diameter. That hard clayey soil was excavated by a soil-scoop, then discarded. The new soil was pea-gravel at the base, then organic potting soil mixed with coarse clean sand. The extra-large hole is then backfilled with the new soil, and the future roots will extend downward where the residual moisture is located. The hexagonal shaft fits into the 3-jaw drill chuck, so there is no slippage while digging into hard soil. This soil auger is strongly recommended. It saves back-breaking work with a shovel and trowel.

My new favorite garden tool!
Where do I start? How about with needing to plant 4 fruit trees, 96 stalks of corn, 48 tomato plants, and a couple of blueberry bushes... How did I finish? With this Power Planter drill auger bit. Talk about making fast work out of backbreaking work, this did it for me, and bonus points for being purple! Clearly how fast it works will depend on your drill, but even as my drill was running out of battery, this thing still dug holes way faster and easier than I could. I also used it to just loosen up the soil in the garden, kind of like a giant kitchen mixer. Would recommend highly!

A must tool for an avid or professional gradner. Great results with no blood, sweat or tears.
I am an advocate for the right tool for the job makes for an easy and professional finish to a task. What a pleasure to use this tool. It makes turning the flower beds so easy. Instead of just scraping the surface and ending up in agony with back, wrist and shoulder pain added to hand blisters after an all day session, using the Power Planter 312 has shortened the task to a few hours and I now have soil well tilled to a depth of about a foot. Digging a hole to plant a rose bush took 2 minutes, the 1st minute to dig the hole and the rest of the time to remove the soil and plant the bush. Better still, no blood sweat or tears. Fantastic tool. My only regret is that the information about this tool didn't cross my path earlier.
