Good Basic Car Mount for Phone
The XDesign mount came pre-assembled and so no need to figure out how to put it together (included instructions would come in handy if I had to take it apart and put it back together again). The mount can hold a Smartphone in vertical mode or horizontal mode. The bottom support is not adjustable and so the side grip arms aren’t exactly centered on the sides for a larger phone, but the mount did hold the phone securely and is perfectly acceptable considering the low price of the mount. I liked how I can still have access to the port to plug in my charging cable. The back button to release the side grip arms is nice and I liked the soft material on the mount and grip arms to cradle the phone. I appreciate that the mount had 2 car vent grip settings to accommodate both thin and thicker air vent blades. The mount had no problem holding my various phones tightly in the cars I tested it in. I was able to adjust the angle and position of my phone to my liking in both the vertical and horizontal position. I did find that it was easier to tighten the adjustment nut with the angle desired first before putting the mount in the car vent. The XDesign mount didn’t come loose or fly off from the vent like my other phone mount. In short, the XDesign mount is a serviceable product, and a good value, especially at the current sale price.

Best budget friendly car mount!
This phone holder is the best! If you are looking for a cheap simple phone holder, this is it! I have had other similarly priced phone holders, and they come nowhere near how nice this one is. The clip to attach it to the vent isn't one of those hard to install pinch clips. You place the holder where you want it, and then flip the switch to clamp down! I have driven on some pretty bumpy roads, and it hasn't fallen yet! Nothing worse than your phone, holder and all, falling when you are driving. Putting your phone in and taking it out is super easy and you don't have to yank on a pressure mount like other simple clips I've had in the past. No more pinching my fingers getting my phone in and out of the car! haha (not that that EVER happened to me!) To put your phone in, you simply place the phone on the holder, and pinch the sides in to lock it in place. To release it, there is a button on the back of the holder at the bottom. Pushing the button slowly releases the sides. I can't tell you how many times I yanked my old phone holder off the dash trying to get my phone out. Not with this one! I have an Iphone 11 pro max, and it is in a case. It fits in this holder with plenty of room to spare. I'm sure it will fit a wide variety of phones, big and small. -inexpensive -easy to use -thoughtful design -sturdy mounting

A Car Vent Mount that gets it Right
This is a well-designed car vent mount for virtually any style phone. The arms open wide, to allow for larger phones or small tablets to be held comfortably. The "lock" for the vent has 2 sizes- fully closed and partially closed. This may be an important feature for some. For example, I have an old Jeep Wrangler and the vents are much thicker than my daily driver, so this mount can be used in either vehicle. My phone (Moto G something- my wife's iPhone is in the pictures) is on the heavier side and it held the phone in place even while driving over potholes. In my experience with other mounts, they typically always fall off with rough riding, heavy phones or repeated use. Another nice feature is the release button on the back. When you press the button it slowly releases the arms securing the phone. This is important because it doesn't put strain on the actual mount because you are not pulling at the mount. Because it releases slowly to your control you don't have to worry about a quick release causing your phone to fall out as soon as the button is pressed. One issue I've encountered with other vent mounts is that they usually position the phone too close to the vent. If you frequently use your heat or a/c this can potentially damage your phone. This mount creates a reasonable distance from the vent to the phone, minimizing the risk of damage. Still, you should probably keep the vent you are using the mount on closed (especially while using the heater). Overall I am really pleased with this mount. The only thing keeping me from rating this 5 stars is that I would like to see a charging cord holder included (like a little rubber notch that you can slide the charging cord in to keep it in place) or a model that allows you to plug the charger into the mount to allow for wireless charging. My current phone doesn't support wireless charging so that's not a big deal for me but as someone who appreciates technology it would be a cool feature for future models. On a side note, I just want to note that there are no adhesives, suction cups or magnets to worry about. I've dealt with them in the past and every one I've tried is terrible. So that was another selling point for me. All in all, if you are looking for a mount for your phone that will stay in place and not obstruct your view while you are driving I highly recommend this product.

Great phone mount for the price!
This car mount is awesome! I have an iPhone X and the mount was able to hold it firmly even with a case and wallet attached. The locking jaws are easy to use and the product itself feels quite sturdy. Some phones may be wider than the iPhone X, but this should not be a problem. The jaws on this mount extend super far out! To release your phone, it is as simple as pushing the button on the back of the mount. The mount also features a cutout at the bottom to allow access to your phone's charging port and headphone jack (if your phone has one). There is also a ball joint on the back to allow rotation of your phone into whatever orientation you like (portrait or landscape). Contrary to other mounts that attach to your car vent, this one does not just slide on, but it has a vice grip like mechanism that grabs hold of the vent and stays secure. I tried it on 5 different cars and had no problem with it falling off. The only downside to this product is if your car has circular vents as the mount will not attach to this type. None of my family's vehicles have these kind of vents, so I did not run into the issue. While there may be other mounts that boast more features or functionality, this one packs a lot into a sleek design for an incredible price. I highly recommend it!

For non plus size phones
I have a Samsung S8 plus phone in a Mophie type battery case, this makes the whole unit long and heavy. The XD10 cMount was easily assembled and installed on my dashboard's airvent. The grip seemed strong enough to hold unit. The side compression is impressive and firmly holds the phone. The alligator padded clips which grip the vent are small and because the phone is heavy, this places a lot of stress on them. The phone cradle only embraces the lower half of the unit. This is an awkward design for several reason: 1. When gripping a dash vent, the phone is positioned above the line of sight into the windshield view. 2. If you want to put phone in landscape position it will be very stressfull to the mount. While riding on city streets the road vibrations cause the mount to drop to floor. It still had phone in a firm clasp it just lost its grip on vent. 3. Using the mount with the phone in the vertical is the only reliable position. 4. I used XD10 cMount with my Garmin GPS, like the phone it is an unbalanced grip, GPS must be in landscape, the cradle design leaves a little more than half of GPS unsupported. Suggested product improvements are to reposition the phone cradle so it holds in the middle of a phone or GPS and not by the bottom third. Also make the two footrests expandable or allow them to fold out of the way so phone can be repositioned into landscape view. For a small light phone the mount should be more than adequate, for people with Plus size phones I would avoid purchasing

Great Value
In the car, I've always just tossed my phone into a cupholder and picked it up if I needed to do something with it. This worked fine, but it meant I couldn't use the cupholder, and it wasn't very convenient if I was using my phone as a GPS. So I decided to give this phone holder a try. I noticed that it was made by the same company that made my earbuds, which I've been happy with, so I trusted that it would be made well. Overall, this does the trick. It keeps my phone up on my dash, which makes it easier to glance at while keeping my eyes on the road. It's really easy to get my phone in and out of the holder, too. I just drop my phone in and squeeze the sides of the holder; this "grips" my phone and securely holds it in place. I haven't had any problems with it falling out or coming loose. To take my phone out, I just push a button and the grip gently releases. It's reliable, secure, and fulfills its intended function. There are some things that could make it better, but it's hard to expect these "extras" at the price I paid; this was a basic, budget-friendly solution. But in a more expensive unit, I would like to see something that allows for easier re-orientation. As it is, my phone is in the portrait orientation. I can switch it to landscape, but it requires two hands and a fair amount of effort re-align everything. I'd love to see a "switch orientation" button or something that makes it easier to toggle between these two perspectives on-the-fly. But for the price I paid, I really can't complain. Overall, this is a nice product, and a great value considering it's relatively low price point.

Premium Phone Holder For A Low Price
A cell phone holder for you car either works or it doesn't. This phone holder by XDesign not only works but works really well. Everywhere it touches your phone has soft material so your phone is cradled tightly but will not scratch or mark your phone. The adjustable arms hold a variety of phones. My Pixel 4 fit great and it was still big enough to hold a larger iPhone. The button on the back opens the arms all the way and you press them together to close around our phone. They operate smoothly and the button is easy to push. On the back is the vent attachment that is adjustable with two settings for thin and thick vents. Simply press the switch to position I or II depending on the thickness of your vents. The phone holder can be easily adjusted to change the angle of the holder to make it easier to see from anywhere in the car. Simply loosen the nut on the back with your finger, move it ho you like and tighten the nut back up. Unlike other phone holders I've tried, you don't have to crank the nut to keep the holder in place. You can also turn the holder to landscape or portrait by loosening and tightening this nut. There is also a slot on the bottom to allow your charging cord to be attached to your phone while sitting in the holder. Your phone stays safe and secure while driving with this elegant yet affordable cell phone holder!

Good quality product
The XDesign Air Vent Car Mount arrived in good condition, packaged in a typical paper box and a plastic bag. Operation is intuitive -- you attach the holder to an air vent in a car, open the wing-type side grips by pushing a button on the lower back, lay the phone in position, then close the wings to the desired tightness. The design appearance is attractive and gives a good impression of the product. Both the gripping wings and the air vent grip have elastomer (neoprene?) pads, as does the holder surface against which the phone rests, and these seem to be well mounted and the appropriate thickness and hardness. The holder attached easily and securely to the air vent, locking down with a little lever. You can lock it tighter or looser by folding the lever down to the right or to the left, depending on air vent thickness. A 360º ball joint on the holder allows you to adjust the angle of the phone. If you need to loosen or tighten the collar for this joint, it's easier to do before mounting it to the vent, although when locked with a responsible tightness, you can still adjust the position after the holder is mounted. When I first pressed the release button for the gripping wings (in my house), they opened smoothly fully in about a second. However, when I got in my car the next morning (temperature around 30 degrees F) and pressed the release button, I thought it was broken because nothing happened and I couldn't put the phone in. A little experimentation showed that it's just much slower to open at cold temperatures. You have to hold the release button down until the wings open enough to fit the phone. This took about 5-7 seconds at 30 ºF. I suspect it might be even slower or not open at all at colder temperatures. Perhaps the damping or the lubricant could be lightened to make it faster. When I pressed the gripping wings together directly against the phone with my fingers, the grip wasn't tight enough to prevent the phone from coming out easily. But when I pressed tightly at the back corners of the gripping wings, they flexed a bit and held the phone with adequate pressure to keep it in place. The holder includes a notched shelf / broad fingers at the bottom that gives plenty of clearance for any charging cable. Overall, the product seems well-made and fully functional. Issues that I noted are mainly resolved by knowledge of how to make it work well, This product was provided to me at no charge in return for an evaluation.
