Get past the first couple of pages and you are hooked!
I took one brief look at the black and white pictures on the first few pages and thought , "This is going back". Then I sat down and just took a look and and I was hooked. This is a MUST HAVE reference book for the experienced tapestry weaver and great for the beginner. Although most of the study pictures are B & W it works just fine. There are some color pictures too but color isn't really necessary for the study portion. As one of the other reviewers said Ms Harvey tells you why you do things. I have missed that in the few classes and books I have had or read. I am a former floor loom weaver years ago, who walked away from my passion when a major shift in my personal life occurred I am now weaving again focusing on small format tapestry with Mirrix looms so I do have some knowledge of weaving. I also have Kirsten Glasbrook's book which has great color but more simplistic and not the reference book that this is. I would recommend both.

I had my book spiral bound for easy use. I can turn to the page I ...
I am a new tapestry weaver and this is my go to book. Covers every aspect from the basics to preparing your loom. The projects take you through all of the weaving techniques with additional chapters on color, hatching, design variations and more. There is a chapter on finishing, mounting, and tapestry care. Chapter on planning and preparing cartoons as well as a quick reference guide to techniques. Plenty of photos as well as clear diagrams, I had my book spiral bound for easy use. I can turn to the page I need and it lays flat.

Perfect for a dedicated complete beginner
This book has guided me through my very first tapestry weaving project. Yes, it's complicated! But if you follow the detailed steps in this book you will learn everything you need to get started. It even has instructions for building your own loom. An excellent beginner's guide!

Awesome tapestry book!
This book is great for beginners to advanced artists. I’m currently working on the first practice piece and though it’s slow going for me, I can’t believe how Much have already learned. True to the description of her book, it is very detailed in every aspect of tapestry weaving. I have done weaving in the past, but not tapestry weaving, which is a beautiful and expressive art form. I love her detailed information, tips and suggestions.

Your Own Personal Tutor
The well described techniques and many weaving examples make this book very helpful for tapestry work. If you work through the book, trying the ideas out, you probably wouldn't need any other book to get you on your way. People in our spinners and weavers guild recommended the book to me and although our library had a copy, it's really nice to have your own at home. It's like having Nancy Harvey there teaching you.

Standard Reference
Though the black and white pictures are dated, the content is not. In fact the details in this book are comprehensive. Some even provided me interesting details about weaving in general. I’m planning to work my way through the sample projects and know that this will become my standard reference to answer future questions.

Disappointed in condition of book
The listing for this book as very good condition. Outside cover has several rough places, do not consider very good condition, acceptable only. Inside seems to be in tacked. Gave 3 stars due to condition.

Comprehensive but probably off putting for many new weavers.
This is a comprehensive book but the content isn't presented in the most accessible way. It has details in it which are of use to keen weavers but I feel it could all have been done in a more logical, colourful and lively way.
