Wonderful collection of the Witcher books.
I bought this "The Witcher" book set as a present for my partner. He wanted to get a full set of the books as he loved the TV series as well as the Witcher games he has played on PlayStation. I was a bit hesitant to buy it on Amazon as I saw some of these book sets arrived with the red "Netflix" sign on the cover which my partner didn't want. Luckily, the books arrived well-packaged in a box (quite heavy!). In perfect condition, sealed in cellophane. No Netflix sign either! My partner was very happy and so was I to see a big smile on his face. Since then he has read some of the books and enjoyed them very much. He told me the story follows the tv show closely but it's not entirely same. It has more interesting details and is a pleasure to read. Now I'm tempted to read the books myself. I believe this set can make a wonderful present to someone who is a fan of the Witcher. Or just treat yourself to this lovely collection!

Wind's howling
Came to the books from the Witcher III - Wind Hunt. Loved the books which have expanded my appreciation for the fantastic world and characters that Sapkowski created and CDPR have expanded upon.

Gripping books in a nice set
The first two books of the set are short stories which I found gave me a lead in to what the Witcher is about. I haven't seen the tv series so I only had what others had told me to go by but I've found them almost impossible to put down. In fact I'm now going to have to get the DVDs!

Fabulous but runs into the sand.
I came to the books from the TV show and quite enjoyed the TV show, although the time jumping in the first series was quite confusing. As the series progressed, I found the story more engrossing and decided to give the series a read. Having now finished it, I am glad that I did so. Firstly, the characters themselves are fabulous: deep, individual personalities, well-thought out, great motivations, with mostly excellent story arcs. You won't forget many of them in a hurry and you will miss them when they are gone. The general arcs of the series are also strong, especially in the middle of the series but I do feel that the final book, with Ciri away with the Elves, Geralt floating around doubting himself, and the entire Nimue thread, detract from what could have been a cracking finale. This gives the impressiont that the series struggles to understand what it is and where it is ultimately going. Often there are side branches and seques, sometimes in different styles and paces which give credence to the idea that multiple authors were at work on it. When it's good though, and this is the majority of the series, it is very good. It has some of the best battles, chases, and fight scences I've ever read. Its political machinations are up there with the best. The comedy is excellent. All the relationships are handled with sensitivity and depth when required: as an example, Ciri's time with the Rats. I just wish the weight and direction of the ending was different. Highly Recommended.

Well written, a must for fans of the games
Geralt may be nothing more than a bit part player in his own Netflix series, playing second fiddle to the women in the series but in the books, like in the games he is the show runner. He is The White Wolf, Gwynbleidd, The Butcher of Blaviken, Ravix of Fourhorn, The Butcher of White Orchard, the one and only Geralt of Rivia. There is no denying who is the star of this show. Very well written, interesting locations and monsters, all encountered for a specific reason rather than just to have a fight, or to show Geralts toxic masculinity as in the TV series. Geralts procession through his world is seemingly haphazard, without and ultimate goal but that is somewhat deceiving, without spoilers it’s hard to describe. The games and TV series do take some poetic licenses but a lot of the content is lifted from the books so players of the games and watchers of the TV series will recognise what they’re reading; if only to be surprised that the story doesn’t play out exactly how they expect.

Essential for fans of the games / fantasy
I’m a Witcher 3 addict, having played the game through several times. However, I only read through the short stories and novels after this. Little did I know what I was missing. Absolutely unputdownable stories in their own right, and essential for any fans of the games. I had already read ‘The Last Wish’ and ‘Blood of Elves’, so when I bought this complete collection for Kindle, I started with ‘Sword of Destiny’ as it technically precedes ‘Blood of Elves’. I then re-read ‘BoE’ and haven’t been able to stop reading until I have literally just finished ‘Seasons of Storms’. By the Prophet Lebioda, get writing the next novel, Mr Sapkowski!

Hermosos

Excellent, I’ll be reading again time after time.
Firstly, check you are buying the full set, including the short stories. That may be why some options are more expensive. Secondly, it’s true it’s written in a more literary style than many. But I really enjoyed it. I think some critics highlight this to scare readers off. Thirdly, I checked (soft version) lots of words I didn’t know, and learned a lot. And they all fitted perfectly. Well done to the writer. Finally, the lore and world build are fantastic and comprehensive. A shame the adaptations are straying so far away.

Amazing books for a great price
As a huge fan of The Witcher 3 video game, I had been meaning to buy these books for a long time, but never got around to doing so. The books are just as captivating and very easy to build a mental picture. I have read The Last Wish entirely and am partially through Sword Of Destiny. So far I have not ran into any of the print issues that early reviews have stated. The latter reviews showing the issue has been resolved is what gave me confidence in making the purchase. If I do run into any print issue, I will update the review to reflect that, but so far, so good. I love the cover art for these books, but I hate that the "Netflix" circle is part of the print. Not a deal breaker, but was not a fan of the Netflix series as far as I was able to stomach to watch. But believe me when I say that the book series (at least as far as I have gotten) is much better.
