2 devices connected and works well with soundbar direct from the tv
It works, and with the soundbar connected to the ARC HDMI port of the tv, works with it as well. Initially I had to turn the soundbar on and off from the plug to force it to detect the change but once that has been done I’ve not had any issues. In input one I have a ps5 and in input two I have the Amazon fire stick 4k. All works fine. Product is lite but built well. The remote is simple and seems durable. Can’t go wrong for the price. Hope this helps

Almost perfect
I had quickly used the available 2.2 HDMI sockets on my AV receiver and had been looking for a suitable HDMI switch. The Kinivo 550BN allows you to connect up to 5 HDMI devices to one HDMI socket. It handles 4K, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and eARC. It’s small, similar size to an external hard drive and can be installed with minimal skill following the comprehensive instructions. In the box you get: 1 x Kinivo 550BN unit 1 x Power adapter (includes a Euro plug too) 1 x instruction manual 1 x Remote control It took me around 20 minutes to install the unit into my home cinema system. However, more simpler installations , between a source, the Kinivo and a display would be quicker. That being said, the Kinvo has one really big and frustrating feature, the placement of the sockets on the side of the unit. To the rear of the unit are 4 HDMI sockets, a further socket on the left side and a further socket and the power input on the other side. This may seem okay initially, but it makes finding a suitable location and cable management very difficult. I would rather the unit be slightly wider to allow all sockets be on the rear of the device. The instructions are very clear, even explaining why certain devices cannot use the auto switching function will not work. The auto-switching function means the unit switches between devices automatically, removing the need to use the remote control. I have placed the Kinivo between my Sky Q, a 4K blu ray player and 4K AV receiver. I was pleased to discover that the Kinvo allowed pass through (signals pass through the AV receiver without it powered on) and switched quickly between the two devices. Using good quality, branded HDMI cables I did not notice any degradation in picture quality. When I powered the Amp on, the Kinvo continued to work and automatically switched between devices. I played a movie via SkyQ and it was delivered in UHD with a Dolby+ (Atmos) sound. Switching to watch a blu ray, all sound formats, TrueHD, DTSHD, Atmos ect, played perfectly. It might be coincidence, but when watching Sky, the picture does appear to have become more defined with the Kinvo, however, that may just be coincidence. To conclude, the Kinvo BN550 is a cracking HDMI switch. It’s good value for money and I recommend it highly. Pros Small unit/footprint 5 inputs 4K UHD, 18Gbps, Dolby Atmos,Dolby Vision, ARC & Pass through Easy to set up and operate. Cons Location of HDMI sockets making cable management and positioning the unit difficult.

A decent switcher, strange hdmi socket placement
It does what it's supposed to. I can't comment on lag or picture quality degradation as I cannot test those. My only critisms would be this needs a separate power supply, I imagine this could have been done via usb, but your not given that option being a fixed plug. Finally the hdmi sockets and placed all around the edges of the unit 4 at the back and 1 on each side. This can make plugging cables in a little tricky as hdmi cables are not the most flexible. The switching between signals is ok not amazingly fast and it can get confused if you have two devices powered in at once as it which it is supposed to display. However I don't do this much so not an issue for me. The control is one of those cheap nasty little ones, so I tend not to use it simply relying on the button on the front of the unit to switch signals on the rare occasion I need it. Given what else was on the market when I last looked there was no consistent lead product so do your research, however I'm quite happy with mine.

Works great with Harmony and ability to disable Autoswitch
After a lot of research I went for the Kinivo as an HDMI switch which was already supported by the Harmony remote system and it also the ability to disable Auto switching. This can be done by simply holding down the select button for a few seconds which changes the LED colour to green so you know it is disabled. (Nice touch). This device works flawlessly with Harmony. Only downside is the HDMI output is on the right hand side rather than out the back, which makes cable management more tricky. I am really pleased with this device though, well built and was nicely packaged.

Works great with Samsung Q950T Soundbar
So far this switcher (model 550BN) has been great to use with a Samsung Q950T soundbar. Since the soundbar can only have 2 HDMI inputs directly and I do not have a TV that supports eARC I was hoping that this switcher would be able to effectively add more ports that would be able to pass through uncompressed audio formats. In addition to this I was hoping to be able to leave the soundbar on HDMI1 input permanently and let the switcher do the work. Upon testing so far it ticks both boxes. My set up is as follows: PS5, Xbox Series X, Sky Q, Chromecast Ultra, Nintendo Switch > HDMI Switch > HDMI1 on Samsung Q950T > HDMI2 (ARC) on TV. Out of these devices the PS5, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch are the only devices that support uncompressed audio formats such as LPCM and all three seem to be working great so far, also passing Dolby Vision and Atmos. When it comes to auto switching the manual states that some devices such as games consoles do not support auto switching but my experience contradicts this as every single device that I have mentioned above has auto switched when tested and it was surprisingly quick at doing so. My only negative would be a nitpick really in that the remote is flimsy and cheap but that’s par for the course really as all these type of devices provide a similar remote. In conclusion, this is an early doors review that is all positive from me, I will update in the future should I run into any issues that need to be mentioned but I can’t foresee that happening based on my experience to date.

Auto switching can work with Roku
I'm using it to switch between 2 DVR's, a Roku and a Firestick. I needed it to switch automatically (haven't even tried the remote that came with it) as I'm using it remotely. The manufacturer and some comments warn about the auto switching not working with the Roku but it's not a problem. I have the Roku and the Firestick powered from Smart Plugs that I turn on remotely and the outputs from the DVR's come on when I take them out of standby. I only ever power the Roku and Firestick up when I want to watch them anyway. So the auto switching works well. I'm using a Harmony hub to control everything. Very happy with the device so far.

After researching which HDMI Switch to use, I went for this based off reviews. I WAS WRONG!
I have a new TV with limited HDMI ports, I wanted to link multiple consoles and my desktop up to the TV through a HDMI switch to make life simple. Unfortunately this has not been the case with the 550BN. Firstly, when linked to my desktop, the screen just keeps going black, sometimes coming back and sometimes just staying black. When the desktop was plugged directly into my TV, there was no issues. I had a little play around to see if there were some settings that I could change to stop the black screen of doom but there wasn't anything I could do. This is advertised as 4k and I have test this - conclusion is that it definitely cannot handle 4k! Used this with my Nintendo Switch and it seemed okay at first but the sound just kept on dropping out and again I troubleshooted this and just couldn't do anything to fix it. Obviously, the Nintendo Switch doesn't do this when plugged into the TV directly. The Auto-Switch feature has been troublesome, I don't know what was going on but sometimes the box just didn't work at all and after powering it off and back on again, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. The remote control never worked, I tried changing the battery but it still doesn't work. I've been trying to speak to their customer support team but they are slow to respond and are yet to suggest anything other than the troubleshooting I have already been trying. Overall I am very disappointed with the 550BN, especially as the reviews overall are very positive which are frankly misleading. Clearly good reviews and higher price-point don't mean quality any more!

Doesn’t work with Virgin media
Well made. Auto switching works well. I returned as it often wouldn’t show any video when viewing Virgin media (v6 box). The menus would show (& sound) but not the video. I replaced it with a cheaper version which had the same issue so it must be a Virgin media problem (I suspect some kind of copy protection kicks in in error). In the end I plugged in the Nintendo Switch and firestick into a splitter and the Virgin box into the TV directly. This works well so far.

Love the autoswitch feature (adjust device settings so it works properly)
Works as advertised. The Auto switch on device power up worked flawlessly. I had to adjust the power options on my Xbox Series S to ensure it actually powers off when i turned it off (it'lld normally just go into a standby mode), meaning the switcher would stick detect it as active. Had to the same for the Switch. Only con is the Odd arrangement of the output HDMI. Input HDMI 5 and the power jack are literally on top of each other when plugged in so there's that. Overall, Highly recommend, great device

Perfetto

As described. It works great and auto switch is great as well. Simple to install and not oversized. No issue with connecting any of my devices.

Very bad don’t waste your money
The device completely died in less than a month , and it wasn’t working as expected. They also refuse to return or replace it.
