Great price for a land line. Does have a lot of static and sometimes doesnt work the best. But it is a wonderful option to have instead of a cell phone. Was easy to setup.

Setup worked extremely well for me. I have an phone/answering machine on my land line that comes in over my fiber optic internet service. CenturyLink informed me about a month ago that they would terminate all VOIP phone service in about six weeks (new owner of both services is now AT&T). With the MagicJack modem I was pleased to be able to also integrate a computer interface with my phone service. I plugged the phone machine into the MagicJack, plugged an ethernet cable into the MagicJack and also into my house eternet wall port, then plugged the MagicJack into my desktop computer. The phone worked immediately, the computer software loaded and I updated. MagicJack assigned me a new local number and then I requested to port over my old number for $19.95 plus tax and fees = $23.06 (you have to wait until the MagicJack service is activated before porting the old number). I had to put a credit card on my account for that but I did not elect autorenew after the complimentary 12-month service runs out. MagicJack searched and informed me that my old number was available to port and I was able to put in the request through the computer interface. I had two numbers for two weeks until the porting completed. Until porting is complete, calls on the old number will keep coming in to the phone, however we noticed that all spam calls stopped during this time. This is a huge savings for me and I thank AT&T for terminating their overpriced VOIP service.

The magic jack is the cheapest way to get phone service over internet and still have a phone number anyone can call. It was easy to setup, just plug into your router and existing house wiring or cordless base station. You get a new number to start and then you can transfer your old number for a $20 fee. Overall this is much cheaper than some other options I looked at, so I bought 2, one for me and another for a relative, and both installs were easy. It took 2 days to transfer my number and 5 days for the relatives. Speaking of price, note that there are some taxes you pay to transfer, plus you will have to pay your annual 911 bill. It varies by area, think mine was under $5 (year?). No complaints here, still inexpensive. The service includes voice mail, which can also be forwarded to your email. There is also a novel way to block robocalls by making caller enter a random 1-digit number. This cuts out most robocalls, which may include legitimate doctors reminders, your children's school, etc. However, there are a few flaws with magicJack service that I did not know about. First, it comes with caller id, but not caller name, so my cordless phone announces "Call from V" for every number not in its address book. Second, the voice mail is a little quirky. You may get the notification dial tone when you pick up, but sometimes you don't, and in one instance it duplicated an message (same time stamp and everything). I switched both lines to use the cordless answer machine instead. The last problem I encountered is I tried to dial into a MS Teams local access number for a conference call. magicJack announced the number was pay-per-minute and not supported. I used my mobile phone to dial in without issue, so not sure why an IP phone would incur charges and my mobile did not. Overall I am satisfied as I can make calls and clarity is very good. I have not tried taking my home number with me and don't plan to, so YMMV. They do offer a 30-day money back guarantee, so you should be able to determine if any of these limits are deal breakers.

I have had one for years...but the last year I moved, misplaced it. You can't beat Magic Jack. Easy to install, and under 50 bucks a year when your computer (at least mine) is on 24/7 is great. I did order a telephone (cordless) but until it arrives, sound is going right through my computer. Plug in, download, sign up for an account, choose a number, add your contacts and you have a CHEAP land line.

Great VOIP solution! Unlimited calls to US and Canada without a monthly bill is fantastic value. Easy setup and the call quality is clear. Perfect for home or travel use. Been using it for a year with no issues. Great way to save on phone bills. Highly recommend for anyone who calls the US frequently.

I was a magic jack user for ten + years. 9/25 I purchased a 3 year service on a new updated version of the device. Had problems ever since with registering online...I can call out but no incoming calls. MJ had me dancing thru hoops ----maybe my phone wasn't matching (brought 3 new ones ), maybe my device was older version, ( purchased 3), (hoop) (hoop) (hoop) maybe my computer had a problem, (hoop) you name it their repair dept suggested it. I asked why not just go into my account and register it since my purchase of renewing for 3 years was quietly being used up and the payment obviously had cleared).... no, that can't be done. Requested a partial refund danced thru three more hoops of new ticket #'s and, always asking " did I get the email?" (hoop) (this took another month + in time) I said no emailed received ... was told to wait another week (hoop). I have 4 numbered tickets from MJ requesting refund. I did get an email for their tech dept stating the fault was on them but I still had to fix it (hoop). Finally, got "THE" email, no wonder, it said no refund was coming (company policy) and suggested I should buy another device and try again. (hoop). The people I talked to, did'nt or could'nt, tell me I was "whistling in the dark for a refund.".... just another way for me to jump thru a (hoop). Meanwhile the MJ device returned to Amazon on 1/9 /26) is still waiting for refund applied to my account (hoop). Seems MJ takes its time ok'ing refunds. Lesson learned: when you read this type of review...pay attention.

Works great with star link Internet just don't understand why I can't call my own cell phone with the magic Jack but I can call the magic Jack with my cell phone.

I had to replace one after about 3 years. First bought MJ Plus in 2017. In 2019, the phone lines were getting a lot of static so I replaced our 10 yr old cordless Panasonic phones with new ones. Didn't help. Searched internet and learned it might be MJ as it may have taken a hit with our continuous lightning storms. As soon as I did, the line was crystal clear again. I put the second one on a surge protector. MJ worked excellent on our FiOS. Never any problems. All calls were crystal clear, no lags and callers said the same on other end. A year or so later, the MJ app was rolled out so I could make/take calls and texts on my iPad! Super convenient. Can also call into the voice mail with the app to pick up messages. If power goes out or if I disconnect my MJ or my phone, then calls will be recorded as a .wav file and emailed to me. Another handy feature. Call forwarding is included with MJ which came in handy when we were without internet as calls could be forwarded to my husband's cell phone. Connecting with iPad contacts is optional. Once I did that, I could block callers and names would show up in the MJ app's call menu for ingoing, outgoing and missed calls. I can search to place a call to someone in my contacts right from the MJ app. I can turn on ipads DoNotDisturb feature and calls will go straight to voicemail without ringing. However we moved to rural America in 2022 and stuck now with sucky internet. Only option here is microwave tower, cellular and satellite. We've tried them all. Cellular hot spot with booster antenna gives us the most stable internet but we have a lot of packet loss during daytime (10-40%) which means MJ isn't working well between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm. Still it's better than no home phone. Works just fine on weekends, early mornings, evenings and sometimes during day. I did try OOMA here but the internet is so bad I couldn't even get Ooma software updates to load on the telo after leaving connected for 18 hours. I was hoping maybe Ooma device might be more robust since it's four times the size of MJ. But in the end could never get Ooma to work. I contacted MJ support when first installing and when porting and when setting up the second MJ. Support was helpful enough each time. My husband and I switched to needing a hearing impaired phone (with on screen captions) last year. We just can't hear conversations well on cell phones and traditional phones any more. For residential home phone service, I am quite satisfied and I can't beat the price. It's not the fault of MJ that this internet is too slow. If you have decent broadband and no packet loss it works great.

Excelente producto; lo he estado usando desde hace 8 años, cumple todo lo que promete y funciona a la perfeccion. Lo unico que desearia que tuviera, es la posibilidad de recibir fotos o video por medio de la aplicacion para celular; pero solamente recibe y envia mensajes de texto. Super estable y super economico para hacer y recibir llamadas desde, y hacia una linea en USA

MagicJack is supposed to be easy to install. This install took four days and several conversations with people protective of cows.

The product is well and good , works like a charm without any issues.

I dont know whats wrong with my magicjack but its giving me so much trouble i have been dealing with customer care everyday to fix it. Everyday it goes out of service or something i am not able to call with it wanted to give it zero stars but i cant so gave it 1. Sooo bad dont buy it
