Great for outdoor grilling!
This little probe has improved my grilling results by taking the guesswork out of measuring done-ness. It registers temperature quickly, usually under 3 seconds, and the display is bright enough to see even in the crazy bright North Carolina summer sunshine, yet not blinding in the dark of night. Results are slightly slower in colder weather, and can take up to 8 seconds or so if it's in the 50-60 degree F range, but that is to be expected due to the cooler initial probe temperature. I have not tried this in the dead of winter and the time will probably be up to 30 seconds if the probe begins the measurement from freezing. The folding construction is nice and keeps the very sharp probe tip from accidentally skewering fingers, and the effort required to open and close it feel appropriate to hold the probe at any angle, from fully closed to fully open. Folded or open, it weighs appropriately for its size and feels good in-hand. Default temp scale is chosen with a physical switch, so it stays at the units you select, Fahrenheit or Celsius (it is inside the water-resistant battery door, so it's a set-and-forget option) and a handy magnet allows mounting on the side of the grill's tray (not the hot part--it would melt) or your fridge. The display intelligently flips to enable reading no matter which angle you are holding it at, but if you take readings with the unit being almost flat on its back, it is possible to see the display flip to display numbers upside down. Fortunately, a slight change of angle is all that's needed to set the display right. There is a hold button on the front of the display which will pause the temperature reading from changing for those who may have trouble registering the value when the display temperature changes quickly or is useful to keep the temperature on screen if you had to put the probe in the roast at an angle where seeing the display was difficult. Hold time is around 1.5 seconds. A handy key for temperatures of various meats is on the back by type, but only for common meats, so if you're making Brontosaurus burgers, you'll have to do your own research. No complaints here about this handy, compact, functional product! I've owned this product for around 4 months with no battery changes (it's 1xAAA) required yet, and I am happy to recommend it!

Easy to use and see
I purchased this thermometer to temp the water when I bathe my dog. I have read the ideal temp for dogs is around 78 degrees which is much colder than what I consider a comfortable temp. For years and prior to researching best temp for dog bath, I assumed because their body temp norm is 101 vs humans being 98.6, a good temp for bath water would be what was comfortable to slightly warm for me. It seems my assumption was incorrect. I generally lather and rinse three times and am turning the water off and on multiple times so I wanted an easy, quick and accurate way to ensure a comfortable water temp. I also wanted to be able to see the temp without glasses, and, of course, being waterproof was essential as well as registering the temp quickly. I had some concern of how much of the probe would need to be in contact with the water to register an accurate temp since I was limited to just the flow from the faucet. It registers the temp with ease when o place the tip of the probe into the faucet’s stream. It produces temperature immediately and the large LCD screen is very easily read. I am very pleased with this thermometer and definitely recommend it to be used in a conventional sense or, as I do, in. A non-conventional manner.

Tough and waterproof
Last one broke and bought another. I use these in a professional setting and my last one lasted a bit longer than a year but took many many bearings. For the price it's my preferred product. I liked the temppro with a programable temperature alarm but those are not water proof. Last one of these I bought got melted, still worked and still was water proof, funny enough what gave out was the screw for the battery somehow stripped itself and the motion sensor was slightly faulty after a while but this was easily fixed with a quick WHACK (like I said it took many beatings) For the price range it's my preferred product as a professional

Good thermometer
This thermometer is working great. It reads quite quickly and I love that it is waterproof. I like that it automatically turns on when you pull out the probe making it easy to use. For the price this is exactly what I needed. So far it seems to be more accurate then then gauge on my grill but need to test it more to see.

Temp Pro instant digital thermometer
I have been using meat thermometers for years. This temp Pro digital works just as it says it’s supposed to. It’s accurate, easy to read and can be used on many different types of food. I would recommend. I am enjoying using it.

Very nice! TempPro addressed issue with earlier thermometer and made it better.
We bought one of these a couple of years ago. It finally failed. The probe broke loose at the base. There wasn't enough material to hold it. Due to this problem, when looking for a replacement, I planned to avoid TempPro. After looking at what was available I finally decided this was still about the best value out there. When I received it, I was very surprised that TempPro had beefed up the base around the probe. It is much larger now. I doubt it will crack near as quickly as the earlier one. It is a breath of fresh air to see a manufacturer improve a product instead of ignoring the problem.

Great Budget Alternative To Thermapen! Highly Recommend.
Long story short, I wanted a Thermoworks Thermapen MK4 but didn’t want to spend $100+, so i settled and ordered a Lavatools Javelin Pro which turned out to be JUNK. I was going to cave in and order a Thermpen and be done, but saw they released this as a knock off and ordered one...Then Thermpen went on sale and I ordered one of those. So here i am with three nice instant read thermometers. Maybe i can help someone make a decision. The TP-19 seems to be pretty well made, about on par with the Javelin Pro. It is not as high quality as the Thermapen, but it also costs a 1/4 as much. The TP-19 feels lighter and the plastic feels a bit cheaper than the Thermapen. For example, the battery cover screws into plastic, where as the thermapen battery cover screws into a metal nut. The battery cover on the Javelin Pro just uses something like a quarter to turn it and does not inspire much confidence (once again, terrible waterproofing). AAA batteries (Yes!) in the Thermapen and TP-19 and 2032 coin battery in the javelin (gross). It opens up and closes easily, and turns on and off as you do so. As for the speed differences between the three units, I can not really tell any difference. All three are very quick and all three seem to be about the same on accuracy (I’m an amateur so they are plenty accurate for me). The displays are all pretty easy to read. The T-19 has a bright red LCD display, kind of like an old alrm clock. The other two use backlit LCD screens, with the Thermapen being automatic and the Javelin having to be turned on. The Javelin and TP-19 rotate 2 directions (up or down), while the Thermapen can rotate 4 directions. The accelerometer in the TP-19 is a bit more jumpy. As you move it around the screen cant always decide which direction it wants to face, which is not a big problem, but something i noticed when testing it. The Javelin and TP-19 have magnets built in which allow you to stick them to a fridge or other metalic areas, but the thermapen does not. Thermapen and TP-19 claim to be fully IP-67 waterproof, where as the Javelin is just water resistant (debatable). If you want a fast handheld thermometer, i think the Thermo Pro TP-19 is a great option. If you you want to spend a bit more on the Thermapen for a better quality unit that has a great company behind it, its a great option too. Thermoworks is THE name in thermometers and are used in many professional kitchens around the world for a reason. My only real advice is to skip the Lavatools Javelin Pro. At $50+ it offers up nothing to the table. Their customer service is useless and the unit has no waterproofing, which to me is important for a kitchen thermometer.

Seems accurate. Easy to use. Good value.
I was originally considering buying the much touted but quite expensive ThermaPen MK4 instead, but I decided to take a chance on this less expensive ThermoPro. Both use "thermocouple" technology for measuring temperature (as opposed to thermistor technology), which can produce faster read times and allow for the temperature sensor to be positioned further into the tip of the probe. I especially liked the idea of the sensor being in the tip of the probe, and having the speed and accuracy to be able to read temperature gradients at each layer and area within the food. In any event, the technology details are irrelevant unless it's designed and assembled properly. And I have not been disappointed thus far. The ThermoPro TP19 seems to be able to read the various temperature gradients and seems more than adequate for the purposes of general kitchen use. Read times are usually within a few seconds and after testing the calibration with a specially prepared ice bath (using an insulated container filled at least 70% full with ice and topped up and stirred with cold water and then taking the temperature after letting it sit 10 mins and looking for 0.0 Celsius reading), I also have confidence in the temperature readings. There was some fluctuation when I was taking the ice bath temperature, which amounted to + or - about half a degree celsius depending on where I measured, how long the ice bath had been sitting, and how well stirred the water was , but even if it was out a full degree or two, that is more than enough accuracy for my purposes. The more important factor is speed for me, and the ThermoPro is also adequate on that front. Yes, the ThermaPen MK4 might be faster to give readings (and while I have not tested both side-by-side comparing read times, others online have), but it's also more than double the price (and perhaps 3x the price, especially for Canadians with USD-CAD exchange, shipping, duties, etc). Overall, I think this is good value and will suit most people.
