Dakine Recon Double Surfboard Bag - Thruster

I used this bag to take two short boards to Indonesia and back. One board was 5'10' and the other 5'8'. both boards were a bit wider than traditional high performance short boards, but not exactly hybrid boards. The fit was great with some extra space. This bag could hold two 6' traditional short boards, but I would purchase a bigger bag for anything longer. The materials and workmanship are high quality. The main exterior padding is thick enough that I didn't use any additional padding. My boards survived with no damage, but you might consider additional bubble wrap if you have super fragile boards. The interior sleeve that hides your second board is solidly designed. I was very happy with how this bag performed.

At first I was concerned because there was some irregularity in the sewing of the top panel that created bunching along a couple of sections of the zipper which wouldn’t allow for me to add additional padding like cardboard as I usually do when packing 2 boards. Eventually, I only added pipe insulation around the edges of the larger board, with nothing on the smaller board that was laid on top. I had no issues for my first trip. The boards were safe and the bag was light and easy to carry. I was glad I decided on this bag over bulkier/heavier ones. The bag fit a 6’6” and a 5’10” board. I don’t think the second board could have been any bigger unless I didn’t use any extra padding whatsoever, which I wouldn’t be willing to risk when flying. I also appreciated the quality of the hardware. The shoulder strap has metal clips and loops and not the usual plastic cheap ones that always snap/break. The plastic zipper was strong and held.

This board bag I’ve taken around the world and has held up pretty sick, comfortably fits 2 boards with pool noodles on the rails, towels, boardies, fins, leashes.

Bought this for our son to travel with. Has flown twice with it and holds up very well. Recommend.

My shortboards are a little on the wide side so it was a tight zip with padding, but overall was a great bag and kept my boards safe.

Love this bag, the quality is great! Best bag I've owned, the zippers and material and stitching all look like they'll hold up very well over time. Padding and design is top notch too.

I purchased this bag to take two boards to Costa Rica. I got the 7’6” and read that others had fit up to 3 boards. With towels and padding I barely got the 7’2” board in. I had to order another smaller bag for the 5’10” board. The quality is excellent, just not as big as I hoped.
