Q: What’s the number of amps this needs ?

This model should use around 1370 watts at 14TH/s using stock firmware. If you are powering it on a 120 volt circuit(not recommended) your usage would be 11.4 amps. Most 120v circuits are 15 amps so this should be ok for continual use. If you are powering it with a 240v circuit the amps used will be half. Additionally consider that 240v will generally have more capacity, 30 amps is common. Make sure to check your electrical configurations beforehand.

Q: can I use these on 110v? saw a warning about not being able to power that way, on here

Yes it is possible, you will want to use a program like BrainsOs to set a power limit for your miner. On 120v the APW3++ is rated for 1300 watts. Running above those levels will decrease the lifespan of your PSU.

Q: There are an awful lot of negative reviews citing units arriving covered in rust. How can I assure I receive a unit that is in working condition?

There was some rust on my mine but it works great.
