Flattened solid walnut w/ no problems!
Made a lazy Susan from a solid piece of walnut for a wedding gift. After my husband built the jig I was shocked at how fast he was able to flatten the piece on both sides. Of course after sanding and finishing it was beautiful! This was much less expensive than other bits we considered.

Fast, efficient & money well spent
After getting a router sled at a garage sale, I bought this bit after doing the research. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly it flattened the top of some pretty dense wood. It still has a very sharp edge & I believe this bit will last for a long time to come.

Excellent bit
Really good router bit. Amana bits never disappoint.

It burns the wood.
This tool seems sharp enough to cut the wood but not sharp enough to keep from burning the wood if you slow down too much.

Economical Solution
There are many carbide cutters on the market that can flatten a 'spoilboard', but I could find none that accomplished the task at a price anywhere near the price of this Amana cutter. I purchase a CNC router from Rockler but they did not have a 1/4" shaft router bit to flatten the spoilboard. I have used this Amana bit once and it performed perfectly. I expect my spoilboard will need to be resurfaced only 1 or 2 times per year, therefore an expensive cutterhead with multiple 4 sided carbide chips is not required for my needs. If i had a production shop with heavy duty requirements, I might feel differently.

Mind Blowing Performance for the Price
I don't usually take the time to leave reviews (especially on a consumable-ish item), but this bit is amazing! It is very reasonably priced for the quality and eats through wood and epoxy with almost zero tear out/burning/etc. If you are using a standard small straight bit to do your flattening (like I was), do yourself a favor and pick this bad boy up. I usually had to spend a good hour to get router marks out, and it takes about 5 minutes after getting this bit!

Nice bit
I flattened 3 small slabs. The bit worked very well.

Surprised
My expectations were low due to its affordable price point but was very pleasantly surprised. Iโve used this but to surface 6x 24โx36โ end-grain cutting boards so far and itโs still sharp!

High quality tool
It's always a crap-shoot buying tools from amazon. This is a quality tool. Used it to rough-plane several hardwood (ash) boards with a router sled. This bit cut like butter, even when taking off up to 3/8" depth for the full width of the bit.

Great quality
Awesome surfacing tool, saves me tons of time flattening my cutting boards. I run it at 150-200ipm on my shapeoko taking only a .050" doc. Cuts great!

Awesome product
Why haven't I bought this sooner, I make chopping boards as a hobby and after reading the reviews I decided to give it a go, definitely money well spent it I used this in my Palm router on a router sled and It did the job in a quarter of the time my other flattening bit took, I can't recommend this product enough.
