Remember - this is inexpensive.
There are no additional controls apart from volume, so it is unreasonable to expect much flexibility or compatibility with a complex hifi system. With an amplifier and two reasonable speakers it has made a substantial difference. The sound is clear and does not 'boom' at average volume. For the price it really is excellent; it is a good, no-frills sub-woofer.
