Just wanted to say the shade canopy are great, very easy to install and operate. The only problem is the carabiners should be replaced with stainless steel because they started rusting 2 days later. Otherwise this product is very nice.

The retractable shade was exactly what we were looking for with our large north-facing patio cover. We wanted something that could be retracted in the winter to get maximum light through our windows and patio door, and give us shade in the summer, all while looking great. This kit fit the bill. The complete set was easy to install. Since we had an oddly-sized patio cover, we decided to go longer and shorten the shade, which you can absolutely do if you are already comfortable with DIY projects. Just make sure you have the right tools, especially a very good cable cutter. We also bought some ferrules to finish the cut cable ends, and stitched the cut shades. Love the filtered light and stylish looks, and that hummingbirds can still visit the feeders in between each shade.

However, ours was missing one d ring. And it has no instructions. We solved it by going back to the amazon site and looking at the picture from the manufacturer. It is beautiful and works great after that.

When I started looking for a retractable roman shade, I sent out to local installers for a quote. The quotes that I received back were in the order of 20x the cost of these. I chose to go with this option instead and am so happy with it! I installed this by myself in approximately two hours. It was simple! A few things to note: - my frame is approximately 16' square. I purchased the 16' long version and you can see the drape in the photo. When you buy, buy to the size of your deck, NOT the total length including the drape! - I'd recommend adding loctite to the D-rings that you add to the top of the shade. I have had 2 of them come loose. You'll still be able to get the shade off by taking off the carabiners. - I'd recommend attaching the cloth strip (that sets the level of drape) to the D-rings, not the carabiners. Frequent opening and closing of the shade can cause damage to the strip via friction otherwise. - I did purchase more heavy duty eye hooks to send the cable through. The ones that were included would likely have been fine, but with 6x6 beams, I could easily support something more sturdy - I replaced the black pull rope that you can see in this photo with a thin metal cable. The rope was just too visible I am 10/10 happy with this sunshade!

The product included all parts necessary to install. Once installed they worked well for the summer. (I retract the shades during the winter. I live in California in an area with no snow). When pulled out the first time this season I found the spacing ribbon completely rotted. It broke in several places. On closer inspection it was clear that the ribbon was NOT designed for outside use. I will be experimenting with light stainless steel chain to replace these defective ribbons.

Works for non-pergola set ups! Combine sail shades for custom length! The distance between my house and my garage is 24'-25'. I purchased two 4'x12' standard size sail shades to make one row because they were cheaper than ordering a custom length. I highly recommend that for anyone who is in between the standard sizes. The sizes that the company provides takes into account the swooping effect. If you want the shade to be flat across, I recommend sizing down in length. The original set up from the video has the wire in a rectangle shape, since I combined two sail shades together, my wire set up was 2 parallel lines, using one wire from each box. The way I made them look seamlessly connected is using the control tape. The control tape distance I used was 23" same as 20 holes. Except the first panel I didn't use control tape.

Our space to cover is approximately 8'x13' about 10' from the ground, I ordered 2x 4'x16' to run side by side. I adjusted my installation so there was only about 3" between them, since we had a small light fixture hanging from the pergola. They have been up for nearly a year, through some pretty bad Colorado wind storms. We try to keep them closed up during storms, but without snow yet this season, I seem to forget sometimes. Overall, they are a great value. Installation was pretty simple and smooth once I figured out exactly how everything needed to be attached. The shade braces that slide along the cable have 3 holes per side to allow for a bit of adjustment for the cable connection brackets. Plus I had to install an additional piece of wood near the house to attach the cable tension mounts properly to the structure. They must be surface mounted for perpendicular force, if they are mounted incorrectly they could be ripped out from the force of the cable and weight of the shade. See photos for proper installation orientation. Instead of cutting the excess wire off, I wound it up out of the way incase i want to make future modifications. Both shades came complete with everything I needed to install them, plus each came with a rod to open and close them.

Still going strong after two summers. Good material, looks nice and provides excellent shade. Installation instructions were easy to follow. Make sure you retract and secure the shade if it’s windy. I extend them fully after rainstorms to dry them out quicker. I take the shades down before winter and store them in the garage. I installed a hook (not included) so that I can secure the shades when they’re fully extended.

Missing hardware, making product useless. Might as well throw straight into trash. Dont buy, poor quality control. Update: so finally after weeks they agreed to send the parts. So the parts arrived and are missing the bolts. Seriously is this a joke? Avoid this company and product
