Mr. Stacky 10 Large 18x18x6 inch Vertical Gardening Stackable Planters - Terracotta Color

For me, being somewhat handicapped, I found the coolest planting system that actually makes gardening fun again! This is the large, Mr. Stacky vertical planter. I put a 1" PVC pipe down the middle of all the layers, laid a small piece of plastic canvas over the drainage holes in each tray, filled with the hydroponic planting mix of coco coir 75-80% and Perlite 25-30"%, rinsed off the dirt from the babies, and placed them all in their new home. The system rests on a garden tray/dolly with wheels and drainage holes. For now, I'm mixing the nutrients into the water and will hand water each day. The water drips through to each layer very nicely, which I was originally concerned about. I'd be happy to see this system in every Rehab Center and Nursing Home because it provides wonderful Horticultural Therapy. Something to look forward to each day, instead of four walls. This is equally as good for families to enjoy and share the growing garden experience. Placing it on a dolly makes it possible to move indoors during the winter months with proper grow lights. Incredibly versatile! Imagine a garden giving back all year long. If you plant veggies that drape down, think about putting a tomato cage along side to give them something to climb on. I'm so impressed with this system that I ordered another large one and one smaller unit. I'm loving this system!

I got the largest version of this product. I bought the stack of five which turned out to be sturdy, not at all wobbly. You will probably want to stack the pots on something sturdy like an 18" paver or a couple of concrete blocks. The individual pots easily fit and stack together. Each four lobed stackable piece holds about three gallons of potting media. Each unit has plenty of drain holes which will drip into the piece below it. I would suggest you plan to water each level seperately. If you use potting soil it will be really slow to drip from your top layer all the way through to the bottom. It is good that each pot drains into the one below it, but that will not normally completely water the bottom layers. I have twenty strawberry plants in mine. It looks like it is going to work, and It is actually quite attractive.

Seems OK, although I haven't put in the dirt yet. I'm lucky it came intact however. The boxing was minimal and one of the bottom flaps was loose. Probably due in part to the fact that the box obviously sat in water. It easily could have opened. The vendor should tape the bottom as well as the top.

These things are great. I'm contemplating buying more. I planned to do strawberries in them but ended up using all 5 for marigolds/etc... (going to fill the remaining spaces with herbs). So I'll probably order more just for strawberries. They look great and work great. I ran my irrigation line inside the PVC, which was larger then the EMT (I used 1/2" EMT and 1" PVC, with the base being 1 1/4" to support the bottom planter). I drove the EMT 2' into the ground and through a bigger planter I had. The only thing I wish they had was an tray for the bottom to prevent soil from going down (I know competitors have this feature). I used landscape fabric since I have an abundance of it laying around. Stone would work as well (and might be easier since the landscape fabric tends to move since you have to cut small pieces out). But overall these things are great. The opening is pretty much exactly 1" so I had to bang the PVC pipe in but i'm fine with that... it means less chance of water leaking. Back to my emitter comment... I ran the tube inside from the bottom up and at the top I made a 4 way "T" using 2gal drippers. Works great. Takes about 5 minutes for the water to reach the bottom part. The key is to make sure it's level so that the water drips evenly. Mine was not level at first (this photo) but now it is and works great.

I bought two of these stacks forveggies and salad greens. Ive added seedlings and directly planted seeds into the pockets. They include: spinach, lettuce, peas, beans, zuchinni, and some melons in the bottom I have a mobility disability and require a crutchso gardening can be tricky. With these towers, I can simply stand or sit as needed. Pros: easy to set up, watering is simple, transplanting seedlings is easy,rotating so each side gets sun is easy, saves space, veggies are growing well, keeps pests away especially when covered with netting. Cons: watering system only works if you have a pvc pipe with holes drilled in it. I wish it was included Tips; set up on perfectly flat surface, weed the area beneath or put down cardboard, requires more soil than you think you’ll need. Make sure you get a good drainage soil mix with pearlite or vermiculite and coco coir or moss so the soil doesn’t compact or get moldy. Bottom line: whether you have an acre or an 3x4 apartment deck, this system can grow a great deal. I wish the company sold accessories so customers could create raised towers with cement in buckets, trellises, nets, etc I would buy them. Give it a try.

These are really high-quality, heavy-duty, plastic planting pots that almost look like terracotta. They are meant to be stacked, and have drainage holes so that you can water the top, and it will trickle down to the plants on the bottom. It is possible to use the pots separately, which I have chosen to do in order to plant a really attractive "victory garden."

Large and durable plastic. Constructed well. The color is a little off. More orange then brown. But if you don't plug up the center hole (about 1 1/8" diameter) much of your soil will just eventually run out the bottom and make a mess. The water holes going from one container to the next are huge (maybe 1/2") and the water just pours out of them to soak the center of the planter, but it took forever for the water to leach into the outer arms of the container. There is no smaller holes in any of the outside "arms" that would ensure any plant would get sufficient water without being soaked through and through. So bottom line; 1. block up the middle hole with an appropriate sized pipe that will help it stay upright. 2. manufacturer make the 1/2" holes smaller. 3. and add one extra hole in the arms of the container. I eventually added a rubber dam around the center hole to force the water away and onto my plants. Added an additional hole into each arm, reducing my water consumption, keeping the plants hydrated and reducing the mess at the bottom of the stack. Obviously I'm not sending these back.

Great planter. I bought the LARGE size. Although, it's still not quite as large and my Garden Tower 2. I wish they'd make an even bigger size. I bought ten and stacked them on top of each other. I was nervous that it would tip over, but, luckily never has. Since there's no composting tube in the center, like there is in the Garden Tower 2, I've added red worms and periodically, will bury some compost food scraps in the soil for the worms to eat. So, the worms are thriving, and moving about the planter.

If you don't get the right size base it will tip over. Get something 2inches wider for a rolling base! Not something 1/2 an inch.

Soooo easy to put together. Everyone stops by to look and ask about Mr. Stacky. Plants love Mr. Stacky! Can’t wait to buy another.
