Best purchase, ever.
I was a bit hesitant, considering the price and the fact that I had just tried a slightly less expensive floor stand that did not, at all, meet my needs. This stand is excellent.Be warned that when it arrives it is heavy, you do not want the unopened package falling on your feet while you open it, so be carful. It doesn’t matter which side is up, if you are laying it on the floor to open the box (which I suggest), As both sides are packaged with parts. That heaviness is directly related to the very stable base, which means, when assembled, that it doesn’t tip at all.I agree with other viewers that the assembly instructions could be improved on. If you are used to assembling things you’ll manage, as I did, to figure it out. The illustrations of a few areas need to be bigger, with far more definition, and be clearer. I had one issue while putting it together: the piece that screws into the base arrived with the bottom lug and the top lug screwed onto it. The bottom lug unscrewed with a tiny bit of effort. The top lug would not budge. I put it in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes, then held it over a steaming pot (don’t burn yourself), after a few seconds it unscrewed, but with effort. Screwing the top lug onto the base (with the support pole in position, and the base lug already screwed on) also required quite a bit of effort (with arthritic hands). The assemblage was stable, but my efforts had, later, to be supplemented by younger, and stronger, hands than mine. The iPad I’m using is very easy to get in and out, the mechanism stays open or closed with no problem, and the iPad doesn’t fall out when in the open position. You can plug in the iPad while using it. There is a lock on the back, on one side, which is easy to click, after you put in place whatever device you’re using. However, if the iPad is flipped 180 degrees, the lock may be somewhat hard to reach in one direction, until you flip the device part way, in the opposite direction. This is a very minor issue. The rotation, orientation, and hight adjustments all work very well, and offer a lot of positions. Another minor issue for me is my height at 5’ 3” (I have short legs and arms), so I sit in a small, low upholstered chair that fits me well: which means I would have liked the pole’s shortest position to be shorter by about one (or maybe two) more inches to be absolutely perfect. However, I’ve not had problems getting the iPad into whatever orientation I desire because the holding device also tilts the face up, as well as down, so to get it lower I can tilt the iPad downwards.Typing on whatever device you use is easy, because the holder can be moved in so many directions. The holder, because it’s mounted at the end of a long-ish arm, produces a bit of bounce if you are heavy handed, not enough to stop me from typing. To solve this the entire product would have to be engineered to a higher standard, using heavier metal, and would end up being more expensive to produce and lead to a higher price. I think the small accommodations that exist with the product, as it is now, means IMO this is priced well for everything it does offer. The weight of the base alone already requires higher built-in shipping costs.I use this every day, for a lot of the day...I’m so very happy with it. My neck and shoulders, which are always painful to some degree, have been much happier, because I don’t have to support the weight of the iPad. My arthritic hands and fingers are happier too. I can orient the face of the screen the way I need it, and at an appropriate height, including a standing position. I can sit in my easy chair and be extremely comfortable, which leads to very reduced pain levels. Because it is on four wheels I can pull it around to other chairs, the couch, or use while I’m in bed, if need be. It would be nice if there was an easy to access lock on one wheel (for tile), but I admit I haven’t yet had any issues on my tiled areas. As far as I’m concerned it meets my most important needs, is a vast improvement over holding my iPad, is used frequently in my daily life, is decently engineered, won’t tip, and is totally worth the money! It currently ranks as the single best purchase I have ever made from Amazon!

This can easily become a full swing arm against the wall type iPad stand if you read my feedback.
Wow! This stand is built to last and the parts are made of very sturdy aluminum metal. The assembly was pretty quick all the necessary Allen wrenches and bolts were included. There is also an instructions brochure which I used just for the pictures to know what goes where. The rotating swing arm is also made out of sturdy aluminum and holds my iPad well. I also have my iPad in a silicon cover which helps with the gripping onto the spring loaded clamps. I needed to have this I pad holder on the left side of my bed which also has a wall. In order to do that, I removed the one leg can be removed. The other legs fixed. After having this stand angled against the wall with the one leg parallel or against the wall. The swing arm position was too far forward if using the friction adjustment pin. The adjustment allows you to move the swing arm up or down and with age screw knob going into the groove side of the pole ,this makes the swing arm only in use by iPad end side and not the nearer the pole which is fixed in with the tightening screw knob. This was bad for me at first as the arm against the pole was facing way to forward due to the fact I am only using one leg. What I did to makes this work great is, I removed the tightening screw knob am the sliding threaded piece that fits into the grooved area going up the pole. With the tightening pin removed, I am able to rotate the arm on the pole to face more in a 90 degree which it is freely swing but with tension. I used painters blue tape to wrap around the pole where the swing arm can rest on with very little friction. I just adjusted the painters tape to the height I prefer. Now I have a totally swing arm iPad holder. Having both arms swing is much better as I can move the swing arm flat against my wall when I'm done. I also remove my iPad and only the arm swing fault against the wall before I sleep. Even though its not perfect for an against the wall install, you can make it happen and also make good use of the swing arm folding up against the wall when not in use. Shipping was pretty quick also and I'm so glad I replaced my other cheaply holder with a clamp on one end and a flexible rod to hold the tablet. This stand is a million times better. I rate this iPad tablet stand as 5 STARS! 5 STARS also goes to Amazon for shipping quick and always providing excellent customer service.Update: 3 days later and I really like using this stand for my iPad 9.7. This stand is very sturdy compared to my old flex rod that was like a noodle after a few weeks of use. There is one thing that I would recommend the seller to do to improve this stand. The clamps has a flat rubber pad attached to it to grip onto whatever it clamps down on. IPad, iPhone, tablet etc. What I wished could be changed is the design of that flat rubber pad on the clamps. These flat one sometimes allow my iPad come crashing down on me when it slowly slips down. If the front part of the rubber piece had a lip that will prevent any device from slipping down. This happens when it’s in a silicon thin cover. I am going to think of something to add to the clamps to prevent my iPad from crashing down on me sometimes.Update: There customer service is excellent!!! I had a small problem with my large clamp not retracting all the way down as I switch between my iPad 9.7 and my iPad Pro 12.9. I contacted there customer service and they took care of the problem right away. They are sent out a replacement clamp set and really humble company to buy from. This stand is built very solid and I don’t know if there is anything better out there. I even converted mines so the arm can rotate 360 degrees. It was a great investment compared to buying many cheap ones a few time until you give in. 5 STARS!

Base design allows for placing close to Living Room chair. Extremely sturdy.
This works quite well, provides flexibility and is extremely sturdy. I would say that the base metal part of the structure will last forever. It would be great for using at a desk. It easily holds a 12 inch iPad Pro which I easily attach and detach while in it's case daily. The advantage of the design of the base is that it can be located extremely close to a table or chair without the base interfering.I use it at my Living Room chair. Due to the fixed immobility where the base of the arm attaches to the main pole, the reach is limited to a lesser reach than I would like, while leaning my chair back. So I have enough flexibility of different angles/positions while sitting, however not enough reach to extend when leaning my chair back. I understand this is designed this way due to the structure of the base, to maintain the center of balance. We have another brand also that has the advantage of a longer reach for a reclining chair, however it cannot be located as close to the chair as it has the heavy weighted base. So it depends on your needs.
