Rosie's Riveting Recipes: Comfort Foods & Kitchen Wisdom from 1940s America (Vintage Living)

Love this book! It has so many interesting recipes and historical facts! I would definitely recommend if you're into cooking vintage recipes and history!

My mother served in WWII. She did 2 enlistments overseas . My Dad and her met there and married. This cookbook has great recipes, pictures and commentary of those days. Makes me feel very proud of both of them reading this book and cooking the great meals from those days.

A really neat book filled with a lot of recipes and history!

I'm disappointed. I've heard about this book for years, tried to buy it used on multiple occasions (and am thrilled now that I didn't). I expected recipes so wasn't disappointed there but was hoping for sections on 1940s decorating, homemaker tips, menus for various events (from breakfast to entertaining). "Vintage Living" implies (to me) a fuller picture than page after page of recipes. There are a few pictures w/comments underneath about someone's first home but nothing in depth. Does not fulfill it's hype of " timeless tips on how to recapture the cool charm of the '40s kitchen fill this delectable guide to one of the most innovative times in home economics" There are better books out there.

My wife saw a copy of the original printing and love it. Some years later, she added it to her Birthday list so I went out to buy it only to find that it was out of print and Alibris could find me a copy for over $200! No thank you - kind of a lot to pay for a cook book. Fortunately this edition came out and I believe it is the same as the original printing - rescued! She got it for Mothers' Day.

Haven't tried the recipes yet, but the text of the book is interesting. Gave a lot of information about the World War II years on the homefront.

The recipes have been fantastic, the instructions clear and easily followed.

Awesome cookbook! Love it.
