EQUADOSE Pill Splitter with Premium and Durable Aluminum Blades, Blue

I have been giving my cat blood pressure medication for a few years. They are the smallest pills I have ever seen and they need to be split in 1/4 's !!! I have tried probably 20+ pill splitters - each would work for maybe a few times then same old result - crushed pills worthless to me! Often I would only get one usable quarter per pill. So yes, this is a bit expensive but the money it has saved me in having to refill his medication over and over has more than paid for itself. It DOES take some time to get the positioning right - because the pill is so small. It can be a bit tedious at first but after a while I know exactly how to do it. Again this is worth the effort in the long run! Update: I have now been using this splitter since November - 6 months and it is still as great as it was when I got it. I have saved a lot of money as don't ruin pills anymore. I have the smallest pills I have ever seen with NO scoring to split. They are expensive and I was averaging maybe 2 doses out of 4 per pill. Quite a difference. I have been splitting this pill for almost 5 years and gone through every pill splitter created and this is the ONLY ONE that has worked. I have seen so many complaints about it's difficulty in using or showing crushed pills and I will say there is a learning curve. Meaning you do have to position it correctly to get equal quarters so yes, in the first few uses I did average only 2 pieces per 4. However, not once did the pill crush. After I learned exactly how to place it and use it, no issues - ever! So I guess the bottom line is how much is it worth your time and money to take the time you need to practice with it when ultimately you are rewarded with a pill splitter you will use long term and save money! I have pictured a cut pill. This is what I get each and every time I use it. The pill actually looks larger in the photo and I forgot to take a photo before splitting the last pill in this bottle but in comparison it is half the size of an Advil tablet, or less than half the size. It's tiny!! Update: It is 2025 - 7 years since I wrote this review. I have over the years had to split pills for 5 cats as they aged and a Golden Retriever. Over the years sadly 4 cats have passed away as did the golden. All lived long happy lives. However, my husband and I have also aged and now we are splitting pills for our selves and our 1 remaining cat. So there has never been a long time between uses in our house! Just want to say it is still as sharp as ever, never crushes, always perfect cut. Some pills easier than others but most are tiny. I must admit it did take some time for me to learn how to eyeball the perfect position and adjust between the blades which may not be an easy task for arthritic or unstable hands (which I don't have yet fortunately) but otherwise it's still as sharp and precise as ever.

I looked and looked at all the pill splitters available on Amazon. Sure I wanted this one because as a techie I tend toward buying the higher end products knowing you rarely get burned for spending extra. The only question I ask myself is - is this an item I want to spend extra on. Cat litter, naw the cheap stuff will do, computer parts, nothing but the best. Personal health items - nothing but the best. I wavererd for hours if not days then closed my eyes and clicked buy it ! I waited until honestly I forgot about it as my work life is CRAZY. I pulled the order up and it was 3 weeks old. It was shipped USPS ( heart sank ) and so I copied the tracking number and put it into the USPS tracking system. Yup 2 entries. 1) wicked up a package 2) it's on a shelf in no-where America and-you-aint-never-gonna-get-it *** BECAUSE *** we're the United States Post Office and our sole mission is for all you US Taxpayers to fund our pension. To heck with your mail. ( Sound familiar - same way unions AFLCIO busted Detroit because in the end all profit from car sales went to pension funds and health care - so it's simply - the car companies said we'll pick up our marbles and leave - and they did. ) 3) PS -> not sour grapes I've had multiple times where USPS updates their tracking late. FedEx and UPS - heck these guys phone ahead and bring coffee & donuts - and a SMILE - when they deliver their packages on time. -- So I used the Amazon system to contact the super nice seller who said gosh this is a mess, and they should ship a replacement immediately I told them I would contact them when I received the package so they would know all is well. -- Here is the email I just send the fine folks who produce Equadose: I'll get another one out UPS today. -- This is ******** and I wanted to ley you know I received my Equadose pill splitter. The second I opened the package I knew a designer had to be involved in this project as it is stunningly beautiful. But wait, then I thought it must be an engineer because Space-X could launch & retrieve their rockets from this portable launch pad made frim billet aluminium. However let me tell you between the Equadose product and MAINLY the company that STANDS BEHIND the product, when you get tired of buying the rest of those cheapo pill splitters that crack and crush your pills, get the real deal pill splitter that cuts you pills. Without even looking at the instructions I took a large ( about 1 inch ) oval tablet and cut it into 3 equal sections. Snip, snip, snip. THAT"S why you pay $35 for an overkill pill slitter and thank you Equadose for taking the time to manufacture one !! ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* Updated: 08-21-2015 Well tonight I went snip, snip, snip again and just couldn't contain myself and thought who else in my life needs to know about this amazing device ? I immediately thought about my vet. Vets split pills all the time and their staff most likely is like the inventor of this product and has tried every crummy splitter on the market. I couldn't contain myself as I order another one to give her as a gift. As an owner of 6 dogs and 2 cats all at once, you can imagine how many trips I made up there and the rapport we have. I can't wait to get my 2nd one to give her as a gift. Thank you to the inventor of this device as you're going to allow me to share my joy with another person who truly has an absolute need for a product like this. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* As a side comment and pile on if you want to, but look at any item on Amazon that's split 50/50% between 5 star and 1 star rating and it's a no-brainer. The people who rate it 5 stars had an absolute need for the product, and yes it was probably over priced for the market, but they don't care because if it works they can make the value justification in their head all day long and feel great about rating the product 5 stars. If you're uncertain, or thrifty, or sitting on the fence, or really don't need overkill, or didn't win the lotto, or don't have a rich Uncle Henry, or don't have a trust fund, or don't appreciate beauty & craftsmanship, or don't read in between the lines of 5 star reviews, please ask any questions as I'm sure the 4 and 5 star reviewers will be happy to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* Updated: 08-27-2015 Gave my vet the 2 splitters I had, and purchased my 3rd one today. My vet had no idea what it was. I told her it was the atomic, bionic pill splitter. She showed me the little plastic one they currently use now -- eh, Mercedes or Model-T the choice is your's. Anyway, terrific product from an even better company !

One of my kids has various medications that need to be cut in half. For circle shaped pills, there are lots of options, many can cut 8-10 pills in one push. What about oblong sized pills that don't have notches? This is the perfect tool for it. It's solid and precise. Worth the premium if you're struggling to give the proper dosage for odd shaped pills.

I cut a large brittle pill and the result was bad. I then cut a small pill that can be split by hand and the result was a perfect cut. I also cut a large pill and the result was perfect. The product is well made and easy enough to insert the pill. The pressure for cutting was easy enough even on the larger pills. I gave 4 stars based on the price point.

After trying several different pill splinters, I bought the Equadose. It was much more expensive, but it actually worked. The Pill is held tightly up and down on the side and is sliced in the middle half way between the top and bottom of the Pill. There wasnt a lot of powder or crumbs as with some pill slicers and most of the halved pills were equal in size. Would buy it again.

I needed a pill cutter for some tiny pills that I had to cut in half. I never used a pill cutter before and had a hard time deciding which one to buy. Some were cheaper than this one but I thought this one was the best. I was NOT wrong. It is amazing how well it works, cutting even the tiniest of pills. I found they work better on their side. I also found that using a pair of tweezes to place the pill made the process a breeze. Do not hesitate to purchase this pill cutter.

I don't usually do customer reviews; however, this large pill cutter is worth every penny, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well this works. I have had pill cutters that essentially cut the pill and, in the process, manage to cut and crumble the pill at the same time, very messy. I highly recommend this cutter and I'm not a paid review person, just a satisfied customer!

The things you get excited about when chronically ill. But this thing deserves it! I've only used it one time but it's already worth the (rather inflated) price. I take several Rx and OTC orally dissolving tablets (ODT) and those things are notoriously hard to split without powdering. I've tried several pill cutters from dollar store cheapies up to about $15. I saw this years ago, put it on a wish list but mostly blew it off due to its price. Well now medication is more costly and it's HUGELY more cost effective to get higher miligram dose and split it multiple times. Rx it saves me over 50% OTC saves me at least 30% so a $30 pill cutter is not such a ridiculous expense anymore. It split my ODT allergy meds into quarters very well. I cut a week's worth of pills with not even enough powder to coat the tip of my little finger! My only peeves are that because of the hinge the pill will never rest flat between the "blades" so it's harder than it needs to be to center them. And though not difficult it does take more force than the standard sharp blade cutters. So with thick pills where you cant close the cover you can end up with an escapee partial pill. But overall if you need to split chewable or dissolving tablets I fully reccomend this item.

I have to cut very tiny pills into quarter and this works great. The pills are not scored either. I cut them in half and then place the half flat side down and cut again. Virtually no wastage or crumbs. Very happy with my purchase and highly recommend. You won’t have to buy another pill cutter ever.

Very well made product - Excellent Pill cutter easily cuts pills into half's and quarters 1/2 - 1/4 its cuts for example ; a 8-9mm Pill easily into 1/2 or 1/4 ( half OR quarters ) , very easy to use and is a solid well made device , the blades are excellent I have manged to cut a pill (8/9mm) into 1/8 but its more tricky !!! , my only requirement / improvement would be for a Pill cutter to cut a 8mm Pill into 1/8ths etc - a bigger Pill this would be no issue etc

Efectivamente, requiere más fuerza que otras guillotinas. Pero es extremadamente útil, ya que sirve de pastillero.
