Excellent Value
I purchased two of these speakers as part of a karaoke set-up. Unfortunately, one of them arrived and only worked for about ten seconds before it developed a terminal problem. It would produce a loud pop and then hum for five to ten seconds before powering itself off. I clicked on 'return item' and printed the mailing labels. Even before I could finish printing them I received an email saying another speaker was on the way with overnight shipping. So, yes I received a bad speaker, but with customer service like that I refuse to mark the product down. I actually received the replacement speaker in less than 24 hours, which, if you think about it, is pretty amazing. Now, as to the speakers themselves: After the replacement arrived, I hooked them to my mixer and started playing music through them. Pretty darned good sound -- not top-notch super high fidelity, but very nice to listen to. And for Karaoke, well they're just perfect. Plenty powerful for any ordinary venue, such as a bar or medium conference room, they project sound quite nicely. Obviously not sufficient for a large hall or arena, their relative lightness and built in handles make them perfect for the mobile Karaoke DJ.I may add a thumper sometime in the future, but these speakers will do the job quite nicely by themselves.Bottom Line: If you're looking for a fun-crowd (meaning noisy and not interested in absolute high-fidelity) system for dance music or karaoke, these speakers are certainly up to the job for any space up to the ordinary neighborhood bar.I recommend them.

The little speaker that could
After shopping around for weeks trying to decide which powered PA speaker I should buy, I finally settled on one of these. At first, I was disappointed when I plugged it in using the 1/4" jack, as it seemed to sound not very good at all. Well, it turns out that input is supposed to be used for a microphone (an input I don't need, since I plug my mic into my mixer) and has built-in frequency cutoffs for that input. I purchased a 1/4" to XLR patch cable at Radio Shack, and hooked it up that way, and let me just say... WOW! I can't believe how loud this little sucker gets. You can definitely hear every bit of the 550 watts coming from this thing, and the quality is very good for a PA speaker in this price range. I doubt it would satisfy a serious audiophile, not for home use anyway, but if you're a DJ or looking for something to rock a party, you can't go wrong with this. Just pay attention to the little red light on the back, so long as it's not clipping, this speaker performs well at very high volumes for a very long period of time without getting damaged or over driven. I used this at a party where I had it running basically at max volume for 8 hours straight, and it was barely warm, thanks to the class D amp built in.I like it so much, I just bought a second one to complete my set!

Behringer Eurolive B212Ds steal the Show in Ct!
These are powerful speakers, they hold they're own at increased volume and sound great. I run Sandy Hook Entertainment, and purchased a pair of these for outside shows, and they blew me away... I just did sound for an irish dance group inside at the Newtown town hall theatre. Believe it or not, these B212Ds were all I needed, I set up unseen backstage, there were different combinations of girls with tap shoes out front making a ton of noise on the stage, clogging, 200-300 people in the theatre, and THESE BEHRINGERS FILLED THE HALL. I was very impressed. I tested them in my living room ahead of time, to make sure, and realized they would be more than enough power. I was running a small pair of Mackies, (220 watts) , and a Mackie 1801 sub,(1000 watts) which was an amazing combo also, but the small mackies didn't have the power. Lugging around all that stuff is tuff for 1 guy too! These 550 watt B212Ds are portable, lightweight, and have power and punch for they're size that you will not believe! Thank you Behringer Techs for making my life easier, and my shows more exciting! John Hemberger/Sandy Hook Entertainment

Lots of good things about the speaker and a great choice for the price.
Some people just don't like Behringer products. I'm not sure if this is because there were earlier quality issues, of if it is because the Behringer equipment is getting compared to similar products that sell for much more. I've been using the B212D for about three months now (small beach bar band 1-2x week) without much complaint. Moving to a powered speaker system (two 212Ds connected to a mixer) has simplified our set up, and the speakers deliver enough punch to get the job done. The sound is more than adequate (particularly if supported by a subwoofer), the speakers are easy to carry and relatively light, and it's nice to have a little EQ right on the speaker. It probably compares favorably to any speaker in its price range. There are a few problems. The speaker gets a little hissy at higher volume levels, and I found the on-speaker controls to be very sensitive. Above half volume it does start to call attention to itself (at least with the inconsistent electricity we get here). The bottom line is that a pair of these and a small mixer fit easily in the back of the car, and have been quite serviceable at moderately sized events. The sound is clear and it can get every bit as loud as the wattage suggests. It won't replace a $1K speaker, but it makes moving to a powered speaker PA system relatively painless.

Great bang for your buck
I bought a set to use in conjunction with a pair of JBL EON G2 15 speakers. I've used this setup the past 2 weekends in a 116 X 83' ballroom for cocktail and dance music. Next to the JBL's these help up very nicely. I was easily able to fill the room with sound and have volume to spare. For smaller venues I would be comfortable using these alone. If you are looking for a setup for karaoke, small venue sound reinforcement, or to DJ smaller venues these will work nicely. They provide nice sound for a good price and so far I am pleased with my purchase.
