I just used this unit for the first time yesterday evening. The unit quietly hums but there is no movement of the water. Is the unit defective?

You don't see movement. However, put one finger in the unit while it is on and you should notice the vibrations. If you don't, then something is wrong. But just looking at it, no, the water doesn't move.

Can this be used with a flex denture? I can't use toothpaste, mouthwash or cleaning tablets because the denture will change color.

I use it on my flex bridge with Val-Clean made for this type of denture. Buy it at valclean.com for ½ the price on Amazon. I've been using it for many years now. They get clean and still flexible.

When this item is used to clean a night guard, should it be used every day? I typically just brush my night guard with my toothbrush & toothpaste every morning, but do a weekly soak in a glass with denture cleaner. Do you add any sort of cleaning agent when using this item? Thanks!

I use mine for my night guard. My dentist says all of these 'expensive' cleaners are unnecessary. Use distilled water and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and clean your retainers or dentures every night. I do this and once a week I brush my retainers with my toothbrush... they have been very clean and undamaged for years. Saves money and it works... I like a win-win.

I bought mine July 2018, and it broke Oct 2020. I didn't use it frequently either. It does a great job but isn't durable. So, based on my experience, it will not last even 2 years.
