Does Exactly What I Needed for a Good Price
I've presently got about 450 DVDs/BluRays. That takes up a LOT of space. I was looking for something with a smaller footprint that would still give me a little room to grow. These seemed like a perfect solution. I bought four and I'll probably get a fifth soon to stash away for when the collection gets too big--but for now they all fit with about 2.5 shelves leftover. Putting them together went pretty smoothly and I did it by myself. If you've put together particleboard stuff in the past, it'll feel familiar. And yes. It's particleboard. That's cheap. That's why it's priced so affordably. Some reviews complain about the build-quality, but seem to be oblivious to how much more it would cost to use a more solid wood. You're getting what you pay for--or actually a little bit more, IMO. If you don't want particleboard, buy something else and pay a lot more. That's your only option. But if you don't plan on putting these things through the ringer and are working on a budget, they're perfect. The first one took me an hour to build. But by the time I was up to the fourth one, I was done in 20 minutes with no need for the instructions--once you've done one the process for the second one is obvious. In reading other comments I went ahead and used some wood glue in with the dowels--but honestly, I'm not sure it made much of a difference. The dowels are just there to solidify it a little--it's the screws that actually hold it together. If I have a criticism, it's that I wish there'd been a couple screws in place of some of the dowels to make putting it together a little less clunky...I had to reassemble more than one shelf that fell apart when I set it into place--but that's on me working too fast. Still I did rank "sturdiness" at 4 stars instead of 5 because they're not going to last for decades if you move them around a lot. But in general, these are GREAT. They hold a ton of stuff in a small area and are sturdy enough for my cats to walk on top of them. I like them a lot and would highly recommend them. Know what you're buying, for sure...it's particleboard...it's a cheap material and it might not survive a move across town. But now that you know that, if you're going to be staying put a while, BUY IT. It's a good value and saves a TON of space for the higher-volume collector.

Attractive and functional
This item is just as it looks in the picture. So very pleased with this stand, and already recommended it others. Just the right size for me, and rotates easily. It fits my small collection of CDs, DVDs, Boxed CD and DVD sets, and fits neatly in a corner. Nice contrast with my light maple flooring, and a small flower vase on top makes it picture perfect. Assembling it by myself was tricky. First of all, the parts were very well packaged and labeled, and everything comes in a smaller than expected box. The screws were on a card with a hard clear plastic compartments, so I first counted all the screws, dowels, cam locks, shelves and rods, to make sure nothing was missing(84 parts/screws, no kidding!). My heart sank when I saw how many pieces there were, as I had never taken on such an ambitious assembly project. My work station was a glass top dining table, which was great because I could see the unit easily from all angles. After the first 2 shelves were connected with screws in place (I mean solidly in place), this took 2 hours, so I put it aside for that day. The rest turned out to be much easier. It was a little frustrating at first because I would be holding one part together, and another part would get loose. Finally it I thought of using adhesive glue to hold the little wood dowels in place BEFORE inserting the screws. Using the glue actually made the assembled unit very secure, so turned out to be a really good idea. When I lifted lifted the finished product off my dining table, everything was very solid and tight. Only movement was in the metal rods, but that's how it is designed ** Assembly tip: Be careful when assembling the 3rd shelf (labelled C). At first glance it looks the same on both sides, but the screw holes are slightly different. Look 2 steps ahead in the instruction booklet, and you will know the right side to connect it to second shelf** If you place shelf C facing the wrong direction, you will think the unit is missing drilled holes. Not true. Flip it around and the holes are there. The unit is made of composite wood, so try to avoid loosen and redoing screws or the holes will get too big. Same is true when assembling the rotating base. Test it first with a heavy book. If it does not rotate easily, something may need to be flipped or adjusted. The unit is heavy when fully loaded with CDs and DVDs, so it makes sense to do the assemble properly before loading it up. Enjoy!

A nice DVD Stand but take your time assembling this it.
This is a nice item. It holds 144 DVDs/168 Blu-rays and, if assembled correctly, it appears pretty solid. The swivel base appears to be very smooth. The piece is very attractive and does not look cheap. That said, here are a few suggestions: 1. Do not plan on putting this together quickly - Give it some time. The directions are correct but there are a lot of pieces and it can appear a bit overwhelming. 2. When assembling this, I listened to a prior review and used wood glue for joining every dowel. Additionally, I ran a bead of wood glue between all joining wood surfaces. The reason is, this is stand is made of particle board and, over time, it would probably get wobbly and fall apart. After I used the glue, I weighted the parts down and let them set. It feels very solid now. 3. You will most likely have to drill 2 small holes for a couple of screws. So, don't be surprised when you come to that part. 4. When you set this up, it really should be on a flat, level surface or else gravity will not be your friend. I made a stand that I shimmed to be level and set the base of the unit on a 12" x 12" tile and it is steady and should last a long time. I am happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone needing a way to store and display DVDs.

Unable to Assemble
I purchased this item for the structure and features, which I found appealing It arrived as a user-assemble kit, with structural pieces and connective elements (pins, screws, bolts, etc.) essentially identical to those used in IKEA furniture items I have successfully assembled previously. The assembly here begins by assembling the wood structure with pins in the one wood shelving piece aligned to holes in another, and screw fittings that wrap around special bolts that secure wood end pieces. I found that large sections of the wood structure were held together with pins only, and even after I secured the first end piece, the structure was extremely flimsy and collapsed. After three more tries,, even with another person holding it together for me, I got the second end piece of the first section (secured with wood screws) but could not complete one of the screws before it collapsed again. Another try and I gave up. I found the structure and design here to be shoddy, the inability to secure the wood pieces frustrating and the written instructions to be essentially large schematic diagrams (not particularly easy to read), and not detailed step by step instructions (which I would expect) It seems clear what DOES hold this together are the vertical metal bars in the kit, but that part of the assembly doesn't happen until the end of the install. I informed Amazon of my difficulties, and writing this review to detail my experience for the benefit of any considering this product.

Get's the job done, but may not be right for everyone.
I'm taking a star off automatically because I ordered two of these, and in one box I got all the parts, and in another I was missing four pieces that were critical to installation. My friend threw out the packing materials while I was putting together the first stand, and the trash man took them away. I've tried contacting manufacturer, seller, and Amazon... no one seems to know if they can ship the four separate pieces or give me a partial refund. So... when you open your box, do an inventory of all pieces and pack up and return immediately if something is missing. I'm taking another star off because of the wooden dowels used in assembly. They are way too small both in girth or length, and they do not hold the pieces together as you go through the installation process. I've assembled nearly every piece of furniture in my entire home: I love Ikea and Wayfair... but these things were a royal pain the butt to put together. Some tips: 1) Use an electric screw driver or drill. Speeds things up, if you have the appliances. 2) In steps 1-6 and 8, the diagrams all show the pieces being assembled horizontally. This is stupidly hard because of those horrible dowels. Assemble your pieces vertically with one piece E as your working base, it goes a lot faster. 3) In step 7, be sure that you are screwing in piece C correctly with the holes facing outward. In steps 9 and 10 you will be adding the bottom portion to make the final structure. 4) The manufacturer really needs to do a better diagram for step 14 as far as how the track assembly is set up. Its piece B, the base, then the roller ring, then the track; your roller ring should be inside and inbetween your track and base piece. When it's finished it looks great. It's easy to clean. And it's very easy to twist. (I have tile floors, Im not sure how well this would work on carpeting with the weight of the rack slowly compressing into a resistant surface). Glides very smoothly. I am not sure how durable the product will be over the time, especially since I am military and I move every 2 years. It's kind of cheap and flimsy in product quality, which is a shame because it really is a very beautiful organizer. So many organizers are ugly, or very limited in their space... Even though it's shoddy materials, it doesnt look cheap. I only wish it was built better, easier to construct, and had all the parts. Even with all of it's faults, it looks so good, I would buy another one... if I filled my current rack ... in the future --- I just might not buy it here.

Came defect/damage free 3x and was easy to assemble alone in under an hour.
I purchased 1 just to see how this product was as there were many negative reviews and was pleased to find that the product had no chips, dings, or defects, while the directions are not perfect I was able to complete the build alone in under an hour when I'd had only four hours of sleep the morning it arrived and then assembled it at around 12:30AM the following morning after getting home from work. Since the trial order worked out I ordered two more which also arrived in good condition with no defects or damage. Those two I managed to build progressively faster in around 35-45 minutes. TIPS: -Analyze what you're doing as you go, read the directions, read the following step or two so you understand what you are leading to from where you are. Pay attention to the facings of your panel to make sure you don't put one on backwards. Your screws will insert into and not against the wood panels in most cases which is why you will notice that some holes on the panels are beveled on one side. -If you have a good selection of screwdrivers make sure you pick the best fit, I have a Stanley screw driver with swap-able magnetic heads and easily found a snug fit for both the philips and flat-head screws. This is important if you want to avoid stripping the screw head which could make your assembly a very bad experience. -While I did not try it I would not recommend using an electric drill to put the screws in so as to avoid over-insertion or over-tightening which could break the material. -USE GRAVITY!!!! Assemble the product on its side for the whole process either on the floor or a table that's large enough for the entire tower's length and only put it upright when you put the screw in for the lazy susan on the bottom. -USE GRAVITY!!!!! On STEP 2 only put the wooden dowels into one panel E instead of two, then read STEP 3 and place the assembly from STEP 1 and the 2nd panel F onto your doweled up panel E. Now put the other 8 dowels into the appropriate holes on panel D and 2x panels F and place your 2nd panel E onto the dowels. -Just be patient and go at your own pace. PROS: -Cheap -I found it easy to assemble. -Holds almost 2x as many dvds & blurays as my old towers did and takes up only a little more space. -Visually appealing. -They don't feel too tippy once loaded up. -Enough space on top to put lightweight things on such as a large box-set or figures/models, maybe a picture. -Works on short/standard carpet, I imagine it would have difficulty on deeper carpets that are on the shaggy side. -While the directions are not perfect and could be better the pictures are clear enough to get a firm grasp and understanding of what is happening. More so than some instructions I've seen in the past. CONS: -Cheap cost means cheap materials, just be careful and provided there are no defects you should be just fine. -There is a concern of over-tightening the screw for the lazy susan on the bottom, I feel like they really should have made a machine screw insert for this rather than make the customer use a wood screw. -The lazy susan is made of plastic with metal bearings and while the product will not be holding an outstanding amount of weight I'd gladly have paid 10 dollars more for a good solid metal part instead of plastic. On a good note the plastic is not very flimsy, but plastic is still plastic and I worry about long term durability.

put it together on its side, leave it on its side the entire time, screwing and all
a lot of people had trouble assembling this, i did not. it was very easy. assemble it on its side, and leave it on it side the entire time, even when screwing it in, even when sliding the metal bars through. keep it on its side until it is sturdy and held together. i did not use wood glue, it did not fall apart on me, it was not the easiest thing to put together but the instructions were easy to follow and very clear, the wood is a bit on the cheap side though. the resulting product is great, very sturdy and lots of storage space... but sure, putting it together would have been a tad easier with more screws instead of those place holder sticks.

Well-designed solution for stray DVDs at a fair price
Very happy with this purchase. More room than I need for all my blu rays. - PACKAGING. Arrived well packaged and tightly double boxed with styrofoam inserts, so no damage at all to the boards. - ASSEMBLY. Not that bad, do it on a flat table and use some wood glue for the peg holes and you'll have no problems. And/or wrap a couple bungie cords or string around the pieces to hold together until the glue dries or all pieces are in place. Couple of the panels/rods are not labeled, but enough are labeled that you can easily figure out which is which. Long as you follow the directions/pictures closely you'll have no issues. All of the peg, cam, bolt, and wood screw holes lined up perfectly. Comes with allen wrench (needed only for 4 bolts on final steps, other than that all you need is a Phillips. Easy day. I was at first wary to purchase because of some 1-star reviews, but after assembly (about an hour) would argue anyone who gave 1 star reviews for assembly is probably somewhat lacking in basic handyman skills. It's particle board so don't overtighten the screws/cams/bolts... snug is good enough. If you choose to do this alone and not to bind the pieces together or have someone hold it together for you until the screws are in place, then yes you will be frustrated when it comes apart, but after reading the review that will be your fault. - APPEARANCE. Yes it's particle board but what did you expect for the price? Everything in my living room is pretty much black and silver/gray so this matches perfectly. Had an open space between my entertainment center and left/right front speakers and this fills it perfectly (only takes up slightly over a square foot), very glad I chose the rotating design vice the wall mounted ones. Long as I don't abuse it think it will hold up fine for years. - USE. So far only have DVDs on one side and it's not leaning at all to that one side, and also turns easily - noting blu rays are pretty light. This is for DVDs/CDs/games and is NOT a bookshelf, so perfect if used as intended.
