Great mute for the price. The pegs are rubbery so you don't scratch your bell and once you've used it a few dozed times you'll bend them to a point where they are just tight enought to keep the mute on, but not too tight to allow for quick mute changes. I'd recommend marking one of the three pegs as a "top" peg. Hook that one over the bell first then just push the bottom two on at the same time. I have used the in-bell types in the past. They aren't that much more convenient and I think the H&B produces a better, softer tone at half the price.

This is a good mute and at a good price. Well worth the money!

GOOD MUTE! This is required for lots of Show work. It's a lot cheaper than the fancy models, but sounds very smooth, and blends well with the rest of the Pit Band. Be sure to measure your Bell, and order the correct size!

My husband is very pleased with this mute.After years away from formally practicing and playing the trombone, my husband has diligently returning to the joy of playing during his retirement. Your mutes are of the quality he needs and he is thrilled with each one.So this is just one more in the collection he is building this year

Humes and Berg products are time tested, and do what they are supposed to do. My only comment is that they are heavier than their modern counterparts, but not objectionably heavier.

Ordered this for my brother and he likes it. I have no idea what this is.

this mute is far cheaper (in price) than others. it produces a good sound, and by clipping onto the bell eliminates the possibility of splitting the bell!
