R-S65C.2 6.5 Inch Component 2-Way Speakers (Pair)

I discovered the front audio in my 04 Subaru was only outputting high frequencies during a voice call, just tinny sounds from the door handle. Removing the door card revealed a set of corroded Alpine Type E speakers, rated at 25w, with rotten MDF mounts, rusted fixings and chunky cross-overs with tweeters fallen behind the door card. Having recently replaced the head unit with an Android 4x40w radio I thought I'd not skimp on the speakers and chose these two way component speakers from Alpine, together with some Boom Mat baffles and some plastic surrounds (I didn't want rotting wood, irrespective of perceived sound quality). Replacement was pretty much like for like, though the much deeper drive units on the subwoofer meant meant fixing them to the door via the mounts and through the foam baffle. The cross-over was much smaller, with spade connectors rather than forked terminals to connect the speakers. I didn't have a tweeter mount, so used 3M vhb tape as a stopgap. Firing up the head unit I tried my playlist that usually wakes my household; Halestorm, Five Finger Death Punch, Eva Under Fire, Alter Bridge, Tremonti, Disturbed, AC-DC, etc. All were heard though several inches of brickwork in the house with car parked outside at just over half volume. Bass was the most outstanding, with clear mids. Maybe the vocals could have been more forward, but perhaps that just needs tweaking of the eq. Any more volume and the car doors start to shake, so I suspect I'll need a sub to get more bass, but for now, I'm very happy, unlike my neighbours 😂

I can't say enough about these. I bought them because they were being sold at a discount because the new r2 was released. The quality of this speaker see is phenomenal. The clarity is unmatched, it was great without an amp, and even better with one. Very cool looking, though nobody will ever see them. Size was perfect for what I needed, functionally perfect! Great bang for the buck!

I installed these in a 2001 Tacoma (front doors). They are not a direct replacement. Had to make some new mounting surfaces using half inch thick MDF boards. The sound is absolutely amazing! Set the crossovers to +3db setting which makes the sound really bright and really stand out. I can dial this back using the treble control on my receiver if desired. I have Alpine R series coax speakers in the rear doors and everything is driven by my Alpine CDA-7893 Receiver with the V-drive amplifiers (60 watts X 4) built in. Could not be more pleased with these speakers! I did not apply any sound deadening material to the doors and the sound is really great at highway speeds. Played some high quality R&B music thru these speakers and the bass is so strong and tight that I don't even need to add a subwoofer. Which is great because there is no place to put one in this truck. Try these, you will not be disappointed.

Came in great shape, and on time. I can't believe how great these sound. I actully had one installed and it sounded better than all the old speakers in my car. Best speaker good price thank you!

I bought theses speakers for my work van and they rock. I suggest driving these speakers with an amp to get full sound.
