How to Control Your Anger Before It Controls You

DON'T BE THE HULK
This provides some good insights into the negative value of getting angry including some case studies about people who can not keep a job, a significant other, and some who go to jail. At one point anger is evaluated as a math problem which is mind numbing. As I listened to it at times I wanted to laugh at how silly it is to get angry, what is the point? Often times fear of what is thought to be coming next. 'Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.' Holy Bible comment. Worth you time to listen to and ponder, helpful.

Buy it only for yourself - some people do not handle criticism well.
I bought this book for a friend. He got upset and threw it at me.

This book helped me at a time of crisis in my life. Reading it gave me the tools I needed to let go of my anger. It's a little brunt and brutal - super realistic. I needed that to let go of the crap that I had no control over.

Albert Ellis was THE Cognitive Behavioral Original/Rational Behavior Therapist.
Ellis is a master. This will help, if you’re prone to getting angry easily when provoked, AND you’re willing to think rationally for a moment before losing it. I need to stamp a few key passages on my forehead.

Useful
A little hard to follow but has a great deal of very useful information. There seems to be a lot of filler fluff but I still would recommend it to anyone looking to help control their anger.

A must read and apply book from the first page to the last. A master guide
In Page 150, he mentions Paul A. Hauck and his book Overcoming Frustration and Anger where he quotes an REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy) ProverbForgive Everything and Forget NothingHauck explains that anger would not arise in the first place if you did not think that you were completely rightThat is why Ellis finishes off the book, page 151, as followsWhen you stubbornly refuse to condemn yourself when you feel angry and when you look more to problem solving and less at the « horrible » unfairness of life, you will probably wnat to go on to the next and more elegant step – surrender your anger for a more forgiving less damning attitude toward the world and the people in it. Not that you have to. But wy not try it and see ?This challenge from Ellis in the last page is consistent with his start when explaining REBT he refers to Epitectus and his famousDo not React i.e.« What disturbs people's minds is not events but their judgements on events » Epitectus, First CenturyThat is why I say in the title of this reviewA must read and apply book from the first page to the last. A master guideI have taken down 12 pages of notes. Really a master class. Thanks Albert Ellis and Raymond Chip Tafrate

Slightly disappointed (speaking for myself)
This is not meant as a slam, I was expecting something different from the reviews I had read. Great read for very basic catch-all life situations.
