It's insurance you hope you'll never have to use.
If you've faced big bears in the wild -- I have, including some huge Kodiaks as well as campground blackies - - you want the best stuff you can get. I've never had to fire mine, but I sure carry it whenever there's any risk of an encounter. Counter Assault is often recommended by guides, and that's good enough for me. I also replace mine every 3-4 years. If I had to choose between spray and a handgun, I'd go with the spray. But both is best, and a slug gun best of all, IMHO.

Thankfully never had to use it!
We bought these to take with us on a vacation to Glacier National Park and then we crossed over into Canada from Montana. We had gotten bear spray just to be safe as we were in Alberta and doing some hiking. We ended up leaving our unused cans at the front desk of the hotel that we stayed at so someone else that didn't think to get bear spray would then have some. The cans were small, compact, and light weight, so they were easy to travel with. I'm just thankful that we didn't have to use them!

Good price
I bought these because of the reviews, price, and distance that it is supposed to do. Have not tested them and I hope I never have too. So I am giving a four star because it sounds like they will 100% keep me safe from wildlife while I camp.

Stay safe. Be aware. Carry bear spray!
We hope it works! We haven’t seen any bears yet. Our last set of canisters lasted 10 years before the pressure dropped. Keep them out of extreme temperatures. We use these when hiking in national parks and while hunting in mountains.

Very potent. There is nothing like it!!!!
Seven years agoI had ordered this same brand before and it is super potent. I had carefully pulled-off the safety one time and it shot a quick micro-second stream in the house somehow. I began choking so badly I had to open all the windows a place a fan in one to get it aired out. Don’t do that unless your outside!!!
