Great little desk topper: Cost little, does what I need it to do and it's cute.
This little guy does just what I need it to do: It lights up the paperwork on my desk when I need that and it bends down to throw some light on my keyboard shelf when I need to locate computer keys I don't know by touch. It takes up only a little bit of desk space and uses either a 60-watt incandescent light bulb or a 13-watt energy-saver bulb. Its white color matches my white desk, and its black knob and arm match my computer and keyboard. And...best of all, it cost me less than the $22.35 I would have had to pay just to replace the burnt out bulb in my 2-year old Verilux, let alone what replacing that lamp's broken grid might have set me back, if one were available, which I sort of doubt. Will probably also come in handy when trying to thread a needle and other tasks that involve squinting.P.S. I just noticed that the lamp I received differs slightly from the ones pictured here in that the on/off switch is a black knob atop the light, which improves its looks quite a bit in my opinion.Addenda September 2014: I recently bought (and reviewed)Kobi Electric K2L4 8-watt (40-Watt) R20 LED 2700K Warm White Indoor Flood Light Bulb, Dwhich I thought would work to replace an dead upstairs hallway ceiling flood. but was way way too small. Luckily, it fit this desk lamp perfectly and lights up the entire surface of my desk now. Would highly recommend for use with this desk lamp.

Easily accepts CFL bulbs, but not LED bulbs
I like this lamp because the on/off switch is on top of the lamp and the lamp easily accepts standard screw-in compact florescent light bulbs. I put a Litetronics Neolite 23 Watt CFL in it and it works fine. The base is not very heavy, but it's stable. If you find that the CFL's you buy are too large, try the Litetronics Neolight's, they are usually smaller bulbs for the same light output and are available on Amazon. I also recommend putting some Di-Electric Grease on the base of the bulb. This makes the bulb screw in and out of the socket easier reducing the chance of cracking the delicate CFL glass. You only need to use about 1/2 a grain of rice sized amount of grease per bulb. Smear it all over the electrical contacts of the bulb, don't be shy. This special grease allows electric to pass thru it. Don't use regular grease or oil or lube - they can interfere with the electric contacts.Dec 2011 update - The base of the lamp is not heavy enough to keep it stable when using a LED bulb like the excellent ThetaLux 9 Watt LED Light Bulb . This is too bad because LED bulbs are a good fit for desk lamps.

I wish I could say "I like the lamp", but...
I bought this lamp (with 4-pack light bulbs) in Dec. 2011. When I switched it on for the first time, I was so glad that I found such a good lamp which not only glowed brightly but also required less spending on electricity (compared to my 100w ceiling light). I even imagined that the four light bulbs would have lasted over 1 year (a 60w light bulb usually lasts 1,000 hours, at a 8-hour maximum usage per day, it can be used for 125 days. 4*125=500 days ), because the lamp seemed capable of transmitting 60w power. To my surprise, all of the four light bulbs were burnt out in 2012, and I didn't even have a chance to use each of them for 8 hours a day (the total glowing time of the four was 1,500 hours, roughly). I doubted if this was normal so I did some research online. According to the results, there are 3 possible causes: 1. the unstable voltage; 2. the bad light fixture. 3. the careless use of the lamp (e.g. frequently switching it on/off). I think 1 & 3 can be excluded because I haven't replaced the light bulb of ceiling/kitchen light for two years, so it wasn't the problem of voltage. Furthermore, I did not frequently/carelessly use the lamp, so the 3rd cause did not apply in this case. The most possible reason for my burnt-out light bulbs was the lamp itself: it did not have a good quality of producing lights.I felt disappointed when the fourth light bulb burned out. I've decided to throw the lamp away, because it's not worth keeping spending on this defective product.

Just What I Wanted!
I read when I eat and I eat only at my dining table. When the weather gets hot, the last thing I want to do is turn on the large light globe overhead, adding to the heat. Therefore, I wanted a small table lamp that would only light up the book I was reading.I searched Amazon's many choices and chose the Goosy Desk Lamp and I'm so glad I ordered it. I can bend it just the way I need to be able to read my book. I have a folded thick washcloth underneath the heavy base and pull it around by the cloth so as to protect the table and keep the lamp arm in the same position, thereby not needing to to constantly adjust the lamp arm. (The lamp is in a different place on the table when not being used.)I am very pleased I found this lamp. I highly recommend it. Also, I'm only using a 40-watt bulb.

Worked..while it lasted
I bought this lamp about 15 month ago back in July of 2012. I mainly bought it due to the adjustable head...although it was only the top half that adjusted but that was fine. Unfortunately the button on the top is rather cheaply made. Around 9 months it owning it I started having problems switching it on and off, and finally after 15 months the button gave out completely. It wouldn't be a problem if the button was easy to fix, but the way the lamp is made it is damn near impossible. I also tried screwing in a bulb and the bulb broke...not sure if that's due to the lamp itself or I didn't screw it in properly?? (How many people does it take to screw in a light bulb?).If you're looking for something cheap and with a finite life..this is your lamp..if not then keep it moving.

A solid, dependable light
I use this for my desk light and it functions well. I tried a flourescent bulb in it and despite assurances it could handle it, I didn't like it, the bulb stuck out beyond the shade and it looked terrible. So I have to use regular bulbs which generates a fair amount of heat...but you can't blame the lamp for what the bulb does, can you? So, I like it well enough, even if I can't wax poetic over this particular purchase. If you want light your desk for detail work, this will do the job, if you don't mind regular-bulb lighting over the smooth glow of flourescence.
