Reliable, easy to use, and great capacity
This pressure canner has been a great addition to my setup. The 16-quart size is perfect — it holds a good amount without being too bulky, and it’s very practical for regular use. Everything feels well-built and sturdy, especially the lid and locking mechanism. It heats up evenly and maintains pressure consistently, which gives a lot of confidence while using it. Setup was straightforward, and the instructions were clear enough to get started without any issues. Once you get the hang of it, it’s very easy to use. I also appreciate how dependable it is — no leaks, no problems, and it performs exactly as expected every time. Overall, this is a high-quality product that does the job well and is definitely worth the investment. Highly recommend! Very large, much larger than I thought. The material is great nice and thick and made solid. I had no problem running it for about a half hour at 15psi it is very safe compatible with many other items. Thank you so much.

Great Value
I had researched canners that can be used on smooth top stoves and this is the one that came up as the best. With all the abundance of the vegetables coming on in the garden, canning seemed like something I should do. I read the pamphlet that came with the canned a few times so it was embedded in my mind. I washed it in the hot soapy water and dried it and got everything ready to can. Filled the jars and the canned preformed just as the directions said. It is easy to clean and sure is a lot better than the old canner I used 40 years ago. Today, we are planning on canning all day! This is a top rated canner and my biggest concern was my smooth top stove as I read a lot of canner could not be used on my stove. This one is just great all the way around and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to start canning or even a pro of many years. Made perfect and not too heavy. Read the manual that came with it (it even has recipes). Per the manual, it can also be used as a water bath canner. So, I feel I have two canners in one that take care of all of my needs. Buy it, you won’t be sorry!!!

Great canner, Amazon not so
The canner was in good condition & instructions clear. When I registered the warranty the person said it was made in 2022, so the gasket may be dried out. Presto sent a new one free. Thanx!! I ding a star on Amazon for selling a canner that old that could have been hazardous if I didn’t know about it. There’s a lot of recipes in Presto’s booklet & I used them to put up green beans & veg/beef soup. And the original gasket has held so far. Nice having a new one on hand just in case.

Works well, cover hard to get off.
Followed all cleaning and lid oil instructions. The lid was extremely difficult to get off, it was STUCK. got it off 1 time, but had to turn it on its side and struggle with it for about 30 minutes before I finally was able to turn the cover to get it off. I then re-oiled the lid areas and the lid sealing ring, closed it back up a second time and again, the lid would barely turn to get it off. It does take some muscle to get the lid in but I finally got the hang of it while using potholders and both thumbs pushing in opposite turns. I’ve been able to can several jars in f food with no issue. I am actually happy with it now. Be warned, you must add the vinegar in the pot, with the water or the inside of your pot will turn black and it will be hard to see the 3quart water line mark which is VERY lightly edges on the inside where the handles are. I use a weighted rocker( not the official name) it helps so I don’t have to keep turning the fire up and down to keep it at the appropriate PSI Level. The pot holds plenty of jars at a time, just read the manual for specifics and don’t can less than 3 jars at a time. Good quality. Good seal. Parts turn black easily though. But works well.

With An Addition, Presto Makes My Canner Perfect For My Needs
I spent a lot of time investigating pressure canners when I was deciding which one to purchase. I knew the weight of the All-American made it prohibitive for me to handle, so discarded those immediately. I wanted a pop-up button to show when the pressure was low enough to remove the lid, and only the Presto has that. I also wanted a "jiggler" pressure regulator so that I could hear what the canner was doing, which would allow me to continue to work around and near the kitchen as the food was processing, instead of being next to the stove making sure the pressure was correct by watching a gauge. The Mirro had the "jiggler," but the pressure release indicator is hidden inside the handle and is very difficult for me to see to determine whether or not the pressure is low enough to open the lid. I had canned with friends, and one had the Presto and one had the Mirro, so I knew a bit about both of them. I felt that surely somebody had built a pressure canner with both of the attributes I was seeking, but could not find it. Only in reading the remarks about the Presto on one site was I able to find out about the Presto pressure regulator that is a "jiggler" and can be placed on this canner in place of the pressure regulator which comes with it. I cannot imagine why Presto does not advertise that in its description of the canner. So, along with the purchase of the Presto Pressure Canner Pressure Regulator that allows me to use 5, 10, or 15 pounds of pressure, I am thrilled with my Presto canner. I purchased both the large and the small canners, which allows me to process about 27-30 pints of food at a time, or 14 quarts. I also use the large canner and my stainless steel Tramotina stockpots for water-bath canning. The disks from the pressure canners also fit the bottoms of the larger Tramotina stockpots, making them much easier to use for water-bath canning than the wire racks, which are too heavy to lift when they are filled with jars. Additional disks can be purchased separately, also. I wish the "jiggler" were included with all of the Presto pressure canners, or the canner could be ordered with the choice of regulators. Other than that, I love both of my Presto pressure canners and would change nothing about them.

Got rid of my electric pressure cooker for this one!
I had a Fagor 8quart electric pressure cooker, it never worked and burned more more than it cooked. After a year of research and shopping, I decided to go “old school”. I ended up choosing the Presto 16 quart for several reasons. 1) I didn’t like that the only “feedback” an electric unit gives is a few beeps. This 16 qt unit has 3 points of feedback so you know everything is working as it should (the rocker, the dial, and the piece that pops when there is pressure in the unit). 2) this unit is a crossover...it’s a canner, but it’s also a cooker, meaning you can make meals in it also. The larger units are canners only and the smaller units are cookers only. And it doesn’t matter if you have a recipe for a 6 or 8 quart, you can still use this pot. If you double the recipe, just be sure it’s not over the max fill line & abide by any other warnings in the instructions, and 3) for less than $65, the price is great. Now that I have had the unit for a few months, it has worked perfectly. I’ve made great recipes without burning anything, and they all taste amazing. I know I can’t “set it and forget it”, but I usually take the time to clean up, fold clothes, etc, so it’s like the the old phrase goes “kill two birds with one stone”. My time isn’t wasted at all, it cooks and I clean.

Perfect for smooth tops!!
I had to buy a new stove and ended up with a smooth top. I now needed a canner for a smooth top. I decided to try the presto. I was nervous to say the least. I don’t move it once it’s on the stove it could scratch it. I haven’t scratched it yet. It works like a dream. I’m so pleased. I’ve now canned 5 times on it with no issues. Thank you presto. Update: three months later, I can honestly say it works perfectly. I’ve used it about 6 times and have canned 7 quarts at a time. My stove has no scratches and my jars have sealed perfectly.

Advertised as Induction compatible but it is not!!!!
Not induction compatible. I searched for an induction compatible canner and this came up. I have the larger 23 Presto canner which works perfectly with induction this smaller one does not.

Good Value Canner
I picked up this 16-quart pressure cooker and I'm happy with it. It’s not as heavy-duty as some of the other brands, but it works just fine. One thing to keep in mind: it comes with a 15 lb pressure weight. Depending on your recipe and the elevation you're canning at, you may need a different weight. These can be purchased separately to suit your specific needs. Overall, it’s a solid, budget-friendly option for home canning.
